The preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) mixing holmium oxide or dysprosium oxide with cupric nitrate and then allowing the obtained mixture and dilute nitric acid to form a sol; (2) adding citric acid dissolved in ethanol or deionized water and drying moisture by distillation so as to form a gel; (3) carrying out annealing so as to obtain a sinter; and (4) subjecting the sinter to tabletting and shaping and then carrying out sintering in a muffle furnace and cooling so as to obtain the finished R2Cu2O5 oxide material. The R2Cu2O5 oxide material prepared in the invention is applied to the field of low-temperature magnetic refrigeration. The preparation method is simple and suitable for industrialization.
