The bending straps have a configuration and orientation which increases their strength and fatigue resistance, and most preferably slits or arcs are used which causes edges (257, 457) to be engaged and supported on faces (255, 455) of the sheet material on opposite sides of the slits or arcs. The external surface of the coupling may be tapered from the center toward each coupling end to reduce the stiffness ratio of the connection, and the ends or faces of the coupling may be reduced in radial thickness to prevent coupling splitting. The coupling length may be extended to exceed standard coupling lengths to provide the additional threaded area and / or taper areas and / or reduced stiffness ratios.

Consequently, it is possible to exhibit satisfactory corrosion resistance and satisfactory fatigue resistance as a steel cord, shorten a curing time in tire component assembling or the like to attain energy saving and prolong the life of a steel cord itself and the life of a tire or the like using the same as a reinforcement. The diamond grains are pressurized under elevated temperature conditions to form the desired PCD material. PCD materials of this invention can constitute the exclusive material phase of a PCD construction, or can form one or more material phase in a multi-phase material microstructure, wherein the multiple material phase can be arranged in an ordered / oriented or random fashion. PCD materials of this invention display improved properties of impact and fatigue resistance, and functional toughness, when used in complex wear environments, when compared to conventional PCs materials comprising intentionally added fine-sized diamond grains.

The nanocomposite provided by the invention has excellent performances and characteristics like small specific gravity, high strength, good toughness, good thermal and heat conductivity, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, simple production technology and low processing cost of the product.

Disclosed is an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer having isotactic polypropylene crystallinity compounded with a blend rubber wherein the terpolymer can be present in an amount effective to improve tack, aged tensile strength retention, fatigue resistance, ozone cracking resistance, and reversion resistance. Also disclosed is an elastomer composition wherein the terpolymer can have at least 60 wt % propylene-derived units, at least 6 wt % ethylene-derived units and from 0.3 to 10 wt % diene-derived units, and a tire sidewall composition comprising from 10 to 30 phr terpolymer, from 20 to 60 phr natural rubber, from 20 to 60 phr polybutadiene rubber, and an optional secondary blend rubber. Also disclosed is a vulcanizate of the elastomer composition, and articles, tire sidewalls, tires, retreaded tires, bias truck tires, off-road tires, and passenger automobile tires made with the vulcanizate. Further disclosed are processes for making molded articles and tires, and for retreading tires.

The invention discloses an engineering tire tread rubber which comprises the following components in parts by weight: 100 parts of rubber, 20-50 parts of hard carbon black, 0-20 parts of white carbon black, 1-8 parts of chemically modified short fiber, 0-3 parts of silane coupling agent, 0.5-2 parts of accelerating agent, 0.2-8 parts of anti-reversion agent, 1-2.8 parts of sulfur, 3-6 parts of anti-aging agent, 0.5-4 parts of microcrystalline protective wax, 3-10 parts of aromatic hydrocarbon oil, 0.5-8 parts of processing aid, 1-10 parts of zinc oxide, 1-6 parts of stearic acid and 0.05-1 part of anti-scorching agent. Compared with the prior art, by introducing the chemically modified short fiber, the invention solves the problem of difficult dispersion of the short fiber in the tread rubber, improves the cutting, chunking and chipping resistant properties and the delaying and heating properties of the tread rubber, and improves the wear resistance, the fatigue resistance, the tearing resistance and the cutting resistance of the rubber, thereby prolonging the service life of the engineering tire.

Foundation with slab, pedestal and ribs for columns and towers

A fatigue resistant gravity based spread footing under heavy multi-axial cyclical loading of a wind tower. The foundation having a central vertical pedestal, a substantially horizontal continuous bottom support slab with a stiffened perimeter, a plurality of radial reinforcing ribs extending radially outward from the pedestal. The pedestal, ribs and slab forming a continuous monolithic structure. The foundation having a three-dimensional network of post-tensioning elements that keep the structural elements under heavy multi-axial post compression with a specific eccentricity intended to reduce stress amplitudes and deflections and allows the foundation to have a desirable combination of high stiffness and superior fatigue resistance. The foundation design reduces the weight and volume of materials used, reduces cost, and improves heat dissipation conditions during construction by having a small ratio of concrete mass to surface area thus eliminating the risk of thermal cracking due to heat of hydration.

Electric wire conductor and a method of producing the same

A conductor excellent in tensile strength, breaking elongation, impact resistance, electrical conductivity, and fatigue resistance, and a production method thereof. The conductor includes elemental wires made from an aluminum alloy containing Si whose content is 0.3-1.2 mass %, Mg whose content makes an Mg / Si weight ratio in a range from 0.8 to 1.8, and a remainder essentially including Al and an unavoidable impurity. The conductor has tensile strength of 240 MPa or more, breaking elongation of 10% or more, impact absorption energy of 8 J / m or more, and electrical conductivity of 40% IACS or more. The production method includes the step of preparing a strand by bunching elemental wires with the above composition, and the step of subjecting the wire to solution treatment, quenching, and aging heat treatment. Solution treatment temperature is 500-580° C., and aging heat treatment temperature is 150-220° C. Heating in solution treatment is high frequency induction heating.
