A wall reinforcing system is provided for strengthening of walls formed of masonry or from wood, metal or other structural materials. A basic system comprises utilization of rigid, fiber reinforced polymer plates of a length to extend substantially the full vertical heigth of the wall. These plates incorporate a plurality of filamentary fibers of length to extend the full length of a plate with these fibers formed from carbon, glass or other material exhibiting high tensile strength and are affixed in a cured polymer matrix. A number of these plates are securely fixed to a wall in spaced parallel relationship by a resin bonding agent or by mechanical fastening devices, or by a combination of both. A plate may include a plurality of plates secured in stacked, superposed relationship and ridgidly secured together by a resin bonding agent into a unitary structure. A second system utilizes one or more sheets of flexible fabric-like material that is fabricated with tows of high tensile strength filamentary fibers of carbon, glass or other material. This fabric-like material is secured to the wall by a resin bonding agent with the tows vertically oriented thus utilizing their tensile strength for strengthening of the wall, either alone or in combination with the plates, and providing waterproofing.

According to the invention, by using flexible long-chain fatty acid anhydride as the curing agent and carrying out solidification reaction on the curing agent with the epoxy resin, a stereo cross-linked structure is formed, and the bonding capability and water resistance of asphalt are increased; by using liquid rubber as the flexibilizer, the flexibility of the epoxy asphalt binder is raised to adapt to the flexibility of a steel plate, and by prereacting the flexibilizer with epoxy resin firstly for grafting, the compatibility between the epoxy asphalt binder and asphalt is raised. The invention discloses a building strengthening method, which comprises the following steps of: 1) clearing the surface of a structure to be strengthened to expose a hard part; 2) carrying out water spray wetting on the structure to be strengthened; 3) implanting pins connecting a reinforcing steel bar net and the structure to be strengthened, and bonding the reinforcing steel bar net; 4) spraying an interface agent coating on the surface of the structure to be strengthened; and 5) spraying a polymer modified cement mortar bond layer and a polymer modified cement mortar protective layer by layers on the interface agent coating. The method can effectively improve the bearing capacity of the structure to be strengthened, improves the rigidity of the structure to be strengthened, and has less occupied space; a molded surface strengthening structure and the structure to be strengthened have the advantages of reliable bond, compactness, no crack, waterproofing, permeability resistance, fireproofing, high-temperature resistance, Cl-corrosion resistance, carbonization prevention, rust resistance and good durability; and a construction process is simple, formworks are not needed to be built, the speed of improving the strength of polymer modified cement mortar is high, and a construction period is greatly shortened. The method can be simultaneously applied to repairing and strengthening of the existing concrete structures and masonry structures, and solves the problems of breakage and aging of materials and insufficient structural strength of an old building.
