A sump pump is a pump used to remove water that has accumulated in a water-collecting sump basin, commonly found in the basements of homes. The water may enter via the perimeter drains of a basement waterproofing system, funneling into the basin or because of rain or natural ground water, if the basement is below the water table level.

Sump pump control system

A sump pump control system for monitoring and driving AC pumps that are supplied by directly either by AC utility power, or converted DC battery power. AC power is continuously monitored and the control automatically switches to DC battery supply in the case of power failure. DC battery power is converted to AC power. The control is equipped with unique pump switching circuitry allowing the pumps to be configured in parallel or staggered positions. Both pumps automatically alternate to prevent damage to pumps from humidity and corrosion that can result from remaining idle. Each pump has its own float switch to control operation. A third float switch controls both pumps in case of failure of either pump or float switch. Multiple visual and audio signals are included, displaying present power and pump conditions as well as alerting to any pump malfunction. The control utilizes two 12 volt deep cycle lead acid batteries that are being monitored for voltage level and continuously trickle charged to maintain maximum capacity. Batteries can be paralleled to obtain longer pump running time when AC power fails. The control system also allows for use of a single pump in the absence of a second pump.

Sump pump test and monitoring system

A proactive test and monitoring system for a sump pump installation of the type having an electrically-powered sump pump which pumps water from a sump pit to a dispersal site when the water level in the pit rises to a predetermined level. The system includes a control module which is periodically actuated by an event timer to initiate a test cycle wherein a valve is actuated open to admit water into the pit. If the pump is operative, the pump operates and the water level in the pit falls, the test cycle is terminated and a successful test is indicated. If the pump is inoperative, the water level continues to rise and the test cycle is terminated, the valve is closed and an unsuccessful test is indicated. Thus the sump pump installation is periodically tested to improve the reliability of the pump and to signal pump inoperability in advance of any potential flood event requiring operation of the pump installation.

Drainage combined with sludge-cleaning vehicle sludge-water separating system

A sludge-water separation system for a combined sewer sludge-cleaning vehicle comprises a rotary filter cylinder (8), a bracket (5), a buoy (10), a sewage pump, a hydraulic motor (13), a high-pressure backwashing water pipe (6), a sludge discharge valve (12), as well as connecting pipes and valves; wherein, the rotary filter cylinder and the sewage pump adopt hydraulic drive. During operation, the slurry sucked into a sludge tank is filtered through the sieve of the rotary filter cylinder, then pumped out of the tank body through the sewage pump, and finally discharged into the sewer. Therefore, the sludge tank can continue suck sludge and sewage. The hydraulic motor drives the rotary filter cylinder to endlessly rotate to prevent the sieve of the filter cylinder being jammed by the dirt in the sludge tank. The high-pressure backwashing water pipe effectively ensures the smooth screening of the sieve and can thoroughly wash the rotary filter cylinder after the completion of the sludge-cleaning operation so as to reduce the corrosion of the system caused by the slurry and make sure the operation can go on smoothly. The remaining viscous sludge in the tank body is discharged out of the vehicle through a sludge discharge valve, then collected or naturally dried and finally carried to refuse sites.
