A drain filtering system is disclosed, comprising a filter placed within a basket which is suspended from frame positioned underneath a drain grate atop the inlet to a storm drain. The filter is constructed from materials which filter out heavy metals and hydrocarbons from the water passing through. The filter also has overflow outlets to prevent back-up of storm water during periods of heavy rain. The basket is constructed from a corrosion resistant material, preferably high density polyethylene which can withstand the extreme pressures exerted by waste and water collected within the filter.

A filtration system is provided which generally includes a filter assembly and a connector assembly coupled to the filter assembly and structured to position the filter assembly in a drain, for example a storm drain. The connector assembly may include adjustable connectors in order to accommodate various flow conditions. A structural cell system is disclosed for supporting hardscape areas in a way that enables tree root growth and accommodates filtering, retention, storage and infiltration of storm water while preventing hardscape damage. The system includes a plurality of structural cells capable of being positioned below a hardscape. The structural cells are designed to have openings that are sized to accept tree roots. The system has one or more permeable barriers around the structural cells with a way for water to flow into the plurality of structural cells flow out of the structural cells.

The invention relates to a filter element consisting of a molded body of porous concrete, which element is arranged in the water stream of a purification system. An apparatus for and method of filtering hydrocarbon contaminated water is disclosed herein. The treatment compartment contains a hydrocarbon absorption media which absorbs any hydrocarbons present in the water rendering such water substantially hydrocarbon-free for discharge directly into a stream or groundwater. A hydrocarbon solubilizing material capable of effectively removing sheen in a first pass may be disposed as a top layer over the hydrocarbon absorption media. A street curb drain filter is comprised of U-shaped brackets for attaching to an inside wall of a street curb drain adjacent an inlet. A horizontal retaining bar is attached to the outer ends of the brackets. The lower edge of a horizontally elongated flexible net is attached to the retaining bar. The upper edge of the net is connected to the interior ceiling of the drain with eye bolts and S-hooks. A horizontally elongated debris basin is supported within the brackets. A filter media pack is positioned inside the basin adjacent a perforated outer wall of the basin. Water flowing from the street into the drain is directed through the filter. When runoff is relatively light, debris flowing into the drain is collected inside the basin. When runoff is relatively heavy or when the basin is clogged, debris bypassing the basin is filtered by the net.

A surface water runoff filtration device comprises an intake which is adapted to receive storm water and other surface water runoff. The surface water runoff flows from the surface through the intake to a point below the filter media, and then up toward the surface through the filter media. This device may be used in both catch basin storm drains and inline drains.

A storm water treatment device that is installed under the grate of new or existing catch basins, and more commonly referred to as an insert. The catch basin decontamination apparatus has a universal housing and support ring that allows one design to fit most applications. Adjustable chains allow for proper position below grate and a semi-flexible molded or rigid deflector directs incoming drain water to the housing. A slip-on filter / absorber cartridge fits over a perforated drain tube, in the center of the housing, allowing the drain water to first pass through the filter / absorber media before exiting through the drain tube and out the bottom of the housing. A method and apparatus for separating oil and debris from urban water run-off, the apparatus being made up of a chamber which is mounted in a storm drain system and has an inner basin with a tilted wire wedge wire screen filter in the path of flow of the run-off, an organic absorber floats on the water as it is collected in the basin, and a discharge plate has a series of slots which are sized to regulate the flow rate of discharge of the water from the basin for removal through an outlet at the lower end of the chamber. The method and apparatus are conformable for use with existing storm drain systems along curbs or gutters as well as parking lots, runways and the like.

A hydrodynamic device for removing sediment and other materials from storm water runoff is provided. An exemplary embodiment of this device includes: a first substantially cylindrical chamber a second substantially cylindrical chamber concentrically disposed within the upper portion of the first chamber, a first baffle concentrically disposed within the second chamber, and a second baffle disposed within the lower portion of the first chamber. A water inlet is attached to or formed integrally with the second chamber; a water outlet is attached to or formed integrally with the first chamber; and an optional bypass outlet is attached to or formed integrally with the first chamber.

The device comprises an urban road rainfall runoff ecological coprocessing box and a bioretention purification unit, wherein an overflow weir board, a second screen mesh partition and a perforation partition are arranged in the urban road rainfall runoff ecological coprocessing box at intervals sequentially; the interior of a box body is divided into an overflow chamber, a water inlet chamber, a water distribution chamber and a bioretention purification chamber that are sequentially arranged by the overflow weir board, the second screen mesh partition and the perforation partition; and the bioretention purification unit is arranged in the bioretention purification chamber, and comprises a gravel layer, a sand filter layer, a planting soil layer and plants. The device and the method can sequentially remove floating matters, particles and soluble pollutants that are in different particle sizes in rainfall runoff, achieve hierarchical control of the pollutants in the rainfall runoff, can store a part of rainfall runoff to meet growth requirements of the plants in the bioretention unit, achieve a water conservation effect, and can also achieve multi-purpose control of water quality and water quantity of the urban road rainfall runoff.
