Method and Apparatus for Determination of Water Pervious Surfaces

A system and method for determining the pervious and impervious area within parcels associated with a municipality for purposes of generating bills for storm water runoff to parcel owners. Aerial imagery, collected from an aircraft and / or satellite, of the relevant municipality, or portion thereof, is collected, processed, and analyzed to determine the amount of water impervious area associated with each relevant parcel within the municipality. This information for each parcel may then be used to determine an appropriate amount of money to be charged to the owner of each respective parcel. The amount of impervious area per parcel is calculated based on parcel boundary information specific to the municipality that may contain spatial domain errors.

Novel vegetation shallow trench and method for processing runoff rainwater by using same

The invention provides a novel vegetation shallow trench and a method for processing runoff rainwater by using the novel vegetation shallow trench. The novel vegetation shallow trench comprises a vegetation layer and a shallow trench, wherein the shallow trench comprises a shallow trench bottom (1) and a slope (2), and an infiltration / drainage pipe (3) is buried in the shallow trench bottom (1). When surface runoff rainwater (9) enters the shallow trench and flows along the slope, the runoff can be purified through retention, filtering of vegetation (7), absorption and permeation, a part of runoff rainwater accumulated at the shallow trench bottom (1) enters a filter material layer surrounding the infiltration / drainage pipe (3) through infiltration effect, and the filtered runoff rainwater is drained into a receiving water body or other processing facilities through the infiltration / drainage pipe (3). Since the infiltration / drainage pipe (3) is designed at the shallow trench bottom, the novel vegetation shallow trench is remarkably improved in transmission, filtering and infiltration capabilities, has the advantages of small floor space, compact structure and strong contaminant blockage capability, and thus is applicable to a rainwater runoff pollution control system for high-density areas of a city.

Drywell retrofit sump insert for storm water treatment

The present invention is a drywell retrofit sump insert designed to be placed inside an existing drywell or other similar Underground Injection Control (UIC). The drywell insert helps protect groundwater by removing pollutants from raw storm water runoff that enters the drywell before the drywell infiltrates the storm water into the ground. Once the raw storm water enters the drywell retrofit sump insert, sand, silt, grit, and other high-density pollutants settle out of the storm water stream and accumulate in the bottom of the drywell retrofit sump insert. Oil, grease, and other low-density pollutants float on top of the standing water inside the drywell retrofit sump insert and are kept inside by the oil baffles on the outlet holes. The drywell retrofit sump insert is comprised of a rigid cylinder with an integral flanged bottom attached by means of a watertight joint.
