1510 results about "Footprint" patented technology

Footprints are the impressions or images left behind by a person walking or running. Hoofprints and pawprints are those left by animals with hooves or paws rather than feet, while "shoeprints" is the specific term for prints made by shoes. They may either be indentations in the ground or something placed onto the surface that was stuck to the bottom of the foot. A "trackway" is set of footprints in soft earth left by a life-form; animal tracks are the footprints, hoofprints, or pawprints of an animal.

Method and system for dynamic network intrusion monitoring, detection and response

A probe attached to a customer's network collects status data and other audit information from monitored components of the network, looking for footprints or evidence of unauthorized intrusions or attacks. The probe filters and analyzes the collected data to identify potentially security-related events happening on the network. Identified events are transmitted to a human analyst for problem resolution. The analyst has access to a variety of databases (including security intelligence databases containing information about known vulnerabilities of particular network products and characteristics of various hacker tools, and problem resolution databases containing information relevant to possible approaches or solutions) to aid in problem resolution. The analyst may follow a predetermined escalation procedure in the event he or she is unable to resolve the problem without assistance from others. Various customer personnel can be alerted in a variety of ways depending on the nature of the problem and the status of its resolution. Feedback from problem resolution efforts can be used to update the knowledge base available to analysts for future attacks and to update the filtering and analysis capabilities of the probe and other systems.

Space reuse during technology upgrade in a protection area of an outdoor enclosure

An outdoor enclosure for a remote terminal is designed so that a structure supporting protector modules (normally coupled between telephone lines and line cards to prevent damage from a surge in current or voltage) is easily reachable and removable. To upgrade from copper to fiber, the just-described hardware (also called “protect block”) is replaced with other hardware (also called “fiber fanout enclosure”) that supports adapters for receiving connectors of optical fibers. The protect block and the fiber fanout enclosure are designed to have approximately (or even exactly) the same footprint, so that they occupy at least some of the same space (before and after replacement). Reuse of the same space in this manner is advantageous over an outdoor enclosure designed to have additional space dedicated for adapters and fiber fanout enclosures to be added in future, because a more compact arrangement results from reuse of the same space.

Systems and methods for enterprise-wide visualization of multi-dimensional data

Systems and methods are described that allow powerful multi-dimensional visualization applications to be effectively deployed across large enterprises. The approach employs a zero-footprint client architecture that allows any network (or Internet) connected client device with a web browser that supports industry standard dynamic HTML (i.e., HTML, images and JavaScript) to conduct sophisticated, interactive visualizations of multi-dimensional data. Technical complications and costs associated with large scale deployments are avoided, because client devices are not required to install or execute specialized client-based software. Client actions (e.g., mouse clicks, mouse drags, related screen pointer coordinates, etc.) may be translated into method and application interface (API) calls and transmitted, either directly from a client device or via a visualization web service, to a central visualization server. The visualization server may then generate updated visual components and may relay them back to the client device either directly or via the visualization web service.

High density electrical connector with variable insertion and retention force

An interconnection system that includes a daughter card and backplane electrical connectors mounted to printed circuit boards at connector footprints. The spring rate of beam-shaped contacts in the daughter card connector increases while mating with the backplane connector so that the retention force may be greater than the insertion force. Such a change in spring rate may be achieved by positioning the beam-shaped contacts adjacent a surface of a connector housing. That surface may include a projection that aligns with the beam-shaped contact. When the connectors are unmated, the beam-shaped contact may be spaced from the projection. As the connectors begin to mate, a central portion of the beam-shaped contact may be pressed against the projection, which has the effect of shortening the beam length and increasing its stiffness.

Method and apparatus for load sharing in wireless access networks based on dynamic transmission power adjustment of access points

A load balancing system and methodology for packet-based wireless cellular networks, whereby wireless access points are dynamically reconfigured by altering their transmission power level to modify their area of coverage. The modification function is based on the localized traffic load or congestion at each individual access point, or the collective load experienced by groups of access points. This modification to the cellular layout is used as an implicit load-balancing technique. When an overloaded access point reduces its coverage area, it forces some wireless client devices that were earlier within its footprint, but no longer within its coverage area, to attach to alternative access points. Similarly, when an underloaded access point increases its coverage area, it provides an opportunity to wireless devices, which were earlier outside its footprint, but now within the expanded coverage area, to switch attachment to this access point. By changing the access point to which a wireless device attaches, the load-levels on the individual access points are indirectly changed.

Systems and Methods for Portable Audio Synthesis

InactiveUS20080156178A1Create efficientlyEfficiently stored and/processedGearworksMusical toysAudio synthesisDisplay device
Systems and methods for creating, modifying, interacting with and playing music are provided, particularly systems and methods employing a top-down process, where the user is provided with a musical composition that may be modified and interacted with and played and / or stored (for later play). The system preferably is provided in a handheld form factor, and a graphical display is provided to display status information, graphical representations of musical lanes or components which preferably vary in shape as musical parameters and the like are changed for particular instruments or musical components such as a microphone input or audio samples. An interactive auto-composition process preferably is utilized that employs musical rules and preferably a pseudo random number generator, which may also incorporate randomness introduced by timing of user input or the like, the user may then quickly begin creating desirable music in accordance with one or a variety of musical styles, with the user modifying the auto-composed (or previously created) musical composition, either for a real time performance and / or for storing and subsequent playback. In addition, an analysis process flow is described for using pre-existing music as input(s) to an algorithm to derive music rules that may be used as part of a music style in a subsequent auto-composition process. In addition, the present invention makes use of node-based music generation as part of a system and method to broadcast and receive music data files, which are then used to generate and play music. By incorporating the music generation process into a node-subscriber unit, the bandwidth-intensive systems of conventional techniques can be avoided. Consequently, the bandwidth can preferably be also used of additional features such as node-to-node and node to base music data transmission. The present invention is characterized by the broadcast of relatively small data files that contain various parameters sufficient to describe the music to the node / subscriber music generator. In addition, problems associated with audio synthesis in a portable environment are addressed in the present invention by providing systems and methods for performing audio synthesis in a manner that simplifies design requirements and / or minimizes cost, while still providing quality audio synthesis features targeted for a portable system (e.g., portable telephone). In addition, problems associated with the tradeoff between overall sound quality and memory requirements in a MIDI sound bank are addressed in the present invention by providing systems and methods for a reduced memory size footprint MIDI sound bank.
