According to the present invention, a vehicle connector lockout apparatus capable of being connected to the diagnostic port of a vehicle is provided. The preferred embodiment of the invention uses a raised protrusion, located in the common space below the two rows of pin spacing of the diagnostic port, as a locking point. The preferred embodiment provides a blocking mating connector with a pressure mechanism for clamping the mating connector to the protrusion. In the preferred embodiment the pressure mechanism is activated and released mechanically by operation of a key in a key lock which is an integral part of the mating connector, where rotation of the key to the locked position in the key lock applies pressure to the protrusion so as to clamp the blocking mating connector to the protrusion. A further embodiment of the invention provides a non-volatile microchip memory component to store information about the vehicle operator usable by medical personnel at the scene of a crash.

System and method for automatically discovering a hierarchy of concepts from a corpus of documents

The invention is a method, system and computer program for automatically discovering concepts from a corpus of documents and automatically generating a labeled concept hierarchy. The method involves extraction of signatures from the corpus of documents. The similarity between signatures is computed using a statistical measure. The frequency distribution of signatures is refined to alleviate any inaccuracy in the similarity measure. The signatures are also disambiguated to address the polysemy problem. The similarity measure is recomputed based on the refined frequency distribution and disambiguated signatures. The recomputed similarity measure reflects actual similarity between signatures. The recomputed similarity measure is then used for clustering related signatures. The signatures are clustered to generate concepts and concepts are arranged in a concept hierarchy. The concept hierarchy automatically generates query for a particular concept and retrieves relevant documents associated with the concept.

System and method of dictation for a speech recognition command system

In embodiments of the present invention, a system and computer-implemented method for enabling dictation may include parsing standard reports in order to identify a plurality of logical phrases in the report used for discrete sections and descriptions. In the report method, the phrases may be parsed and identifier words throughout the report may be compared to eliminate ambiguities. The method may then involve constructing text macros that follow the parsed text, thereby enabling the user to speak the identifiers to indicate full, formatted text. Finally, the report method may involve constructing a mnemonic document so both beginner and experienced users can easily read the identifiers out loud to produce a report. The result of the method is an intuitive, notes-style way to use speech commands to quickly produce a standard, formatted report.

Apparatus and method for detecting or recognizing pattern by employing a plurality of feature detecting elements

A pattern detecting apparatus has a plurality of hierarchized neuron elements to detect a predetermined pattern included in input patterns. Pulse signals output from the plurality of neuron elements are given specific delays by synapse circuits associated with the individual elements. This makes it possible to transmit the pulse signals to the neuron elements of the succeeding layer through a common bus line so that they can be identified on a time base. The neuron elements of the succeeding layer output the pulse signals at output levels based on a arrival time pattern of the plurality of pulse signals received from the plurality of neuron elements of the preceding layer within a predetermined time window. Thus, the reliability of pattern detection can be improved, and the number of wires interconnecting the elements can be reduced by the use of the common bus line, leading to a small scale of circuit and reduced power consumption.

Method and device for measuring density of a liquid

A sensor for measuring density of a liquid that comprises a float unit having a sealed hollow casing that contains a first magnet and a strain-gauge unit having a sealed hollow casing that contains a strain gauge and a second magnet arranged coaxially to the first magnet. Coaxiality of the magnets is provided by means of a guide rod installed on the casing of the strain-gauge unit and used to guide the float unit by inserting the guide rod into the central opening of the float unit casing. A characteristic feature of the sensor is that changes in the density of the liquid that cause displacement of the float cause detectable deformations of the strain gauge via forces of magnetic interaction between the first and second magnets without physical contact between the magnets. Since the elements of the sensor are located in sealed casings, they are not subject to damage and do not require maintenance.

Apparatus having line source of radiant energy for exposing a substrate

Radiant energy line source(s) (e.g., laser diode array) and anamorphic relay receiving radiant energy therefrom and directing that energy to a substrate in a relatively uniform line image. The line image is scanned with respect to the substrate for treatment thereof. Good uniformity is provided even when the line source is uneven. Optionally, delimiting aperture(s) located in the anamorphic relay focal plane and a subsequent imaging relay are includeable to permit substrate exposure in strips with boundaries between adjacent strips within scribe lines between circuits. An anamorphic relay focal plane mask with a predetermined pattern can be used to define portions of the substrate to be treated with the substrate and mask scanning motions synchronized with each other. Control of source output, and position / speed of the substrate, with respect to the line image, allows uniform dose and required magnitude over the substrate.
