Catch basin filter absorber apparatus and method for water decontamination

A storm water treatment device that is installed under the grate of new or existing catch basins, and more commonly referred to as an insert. The catch basin decontamination apparatus has a universal housing and support ring that allows one design to fit most applications. Adjustable chains allow for proper position below grate and a semi-flexible molded or rigid deflector directs incoming drain water to the housing. A slip-on filter / absorber cartridge fits over a perforated drain tube, in the center of the housing, allowing the drain water to first pass through the filter / absorber media before exiting through the drain tube and out the bottom of the housing. The filter / absorber cartridge includes a variety of absorber materials that absorb oil and repel water. Activated carbon, microbes and other site specific absorbents can be used in the replaceable slip-on cartridge. A leaf pre-strainer helps prevent leaves and debris from entering the housing. A clean in place suction tube and clod buster form of the apparatus aids in cleaning the housing.

Stormwater treatment system for eliminating solid debris

A stormwater treatment system designed to separate floating pollutants, liter, and contaminated settling solids from drainage discharge. The system uses a cylindrical tank, buried below the ground, which enables separation of the pollutants. The stormwater flows around the inside perimeter of the tank until it flows into an inner cylinder through a weir (or weirs). This causes a delayed flow due to the limited entry point through the vertical weir. The extended amount of resonance time allows for separation of pollutants, liter, and contaminated solids. The stormwater continues to separate itself as it flows around the inner cylinder, up through a vertical pipe and out an outlet pipe. The solid contaminants which are left behind are stored and able to be removed later.

Stormwater treatment apparatus and method

A liquid purification and separation apparatus for separation of pollutants in stormwater runoff is disclosed. This apparatus utilizes gravitational separation and tortuosity, resulting from a plurality of baffles both perpendicular to and oblique to the primary water flow direction, to trap substances less-dense and more-dense than water. The apparatus features improved resistance to pollutant remobilization through treatment of water volume rather than flow rates, using vertically stacked water columns of varying depths to settle small particles. An overflow structure diverts excessive liquid without interfering with purification and separation, and can be placed integrally within or external to the apparatus receptacle.

Stormwater filtration system and method with pretreatment capability

A stormwater treatment system and method for removing sediment, chemical pollutants, and debris from stormwater runoff by utilizing bioretention practices including physical, chemical and biological processes by passing stormwater runoff water through a multi-phase filtering and treatment train. Stormwater is initially directed to and enters a pretreatment collection chamber located within or exterior of a primarily open-bottomed, multi-dimensional container whereby entrained sediment and other transportable materials are captured and collected prior to continued transport, filtration and treatment through a media filter layer. A live plant (preferably a tree) situated within the container with roots resident in the media filter layer with the ability for expansion beyond the perimeter of the container through openings in one or more sidewalls. The treated water may be further conveyed to a separate compartment or storage area for additional filtration and temporary collection and storage, or discharged exterior of the container. A vertically positioned overflow / bypass piping apparatus may be included within the stormwater treatment system to provide additional water conveyance. Additional ancillary filtration and storage facilities may be connected to the described stormwater treatment system as conditions warrant.

Stormwater treatment system with two chamber treatment container and overflow tray

A stormwater treatment system having a treatment container with two chambers, a treatment chamber and a bypass chamber. The bypass chamber includes an inlet for receiving stormwater. Disposed adjacent the inlet is an overflow tray secured to the walls of the bypass chamber. The tray includes an inlet opening for receiving the stormwater to be treated, and a discharge opening through the baffle wall that separates the two chambers for discharging stormwater that enters at low flow rates. The stormwater to be treated passes through the discharge opening into the treatment chamber where it is treated by the filter media. High flow rates will bypass the treatment chamber by overflowing a dam wall or weir defined by the overflow tray directly into the bypass chamber. Treated water from the treatment chamber passes through an underdrain pipe that enters into the bypass chamber. All water from the bypass chamber exits through pipe openings, preferably on each of three sides of the bypass chamber wall.
