494 results about "Interlock" patented technology

An interlock is a feature that makes the state of two mechanisms or functions mutually dependent. It may be used to prevent undesired states in a finite-state machine, and may consist of any electrical, electronic, or mechanical devices or systems. In most applications, an interlock is used to help prevent a machine from harming its operator or damaging itself by preventing one element from changing state due to the state of another element, and vice versa. Elevators are equipped with an interlock that prevents the moving elevator from opening its doors, and prevents the stationary elevator (with open doors) from moving. Although both are idiot proof strategies, an interlock should not be confused with a simple safety switch. For example, in a typical household microwave oven, the switch that disables the magnetron if the door is opened is not an interlock. Rather, it would be considered an interlock if the door were locked while the magnetron is on, and the magnetron were prevented from operating while the door is open. Interlocks may include sophisticated elements such as curtains of infrared beams, photodetectors, a computer containing an interlocking computer program, digital or analogue electronics, or simple switches and locks.

A computer numerically controlled machine may include a movable head configured to deliver electromagnetic energy to a part of a working area in which the movable head may be commanded to cause delivery of the electromagnetic energy. The interior space may be defined by a housing and may include an openable barrier that attenuates transmission of light between the interior space and an exterior of the computer numerically controlled machine when the openable barrier is in a closed position. The computer numerically controlled machine may include an interlock that prevents emission of the electromagnetic energy when detecting that the openable barrier is not in the closed position. The commanding may result in the computer numerically controlled machine executing operations of a motion plan for causing movement of the movable head to deliver the electromagnetic energy to effect a change in a material at least partially contained within the interior space.

Interlock mechanism for a drug delivery device and drug delivery device

The invention refers to an interlock mechanism for restricting a rotational movement of a rotatable component (1) of a drug delivery device (10) and to a method for controlling the rotational movement of the rotatable component (1). The method comprises the steps of:translatively moving a trigger arm (6) engaged with a protrusion (7) of a latch arm (5) from an initial position for pivoting the latch arm (5) out of one of at least one catches (3) provided in a cam profile of the rotatable component (1) thus allowing the rotatable component (1), biased by an energy source, to rotate;pivoting the trigger arm (5) by one of at least one cams (4) provided in the cam profile during the rotation (R) of the rotatable component (1) whereby the trigger arm (6) is disengaged from the protrusion (7) thus allowing the latch arm (5) to re-engage with one of the catches (3) to stop the rotational movement (R) and whereby an interlock means (8) catches and holds the trigger arm (6) in its translatively moved and pivoted position until the interlock means (8) is released by a reset means;translatively moving the trigger arm (6) back into the initial position once the interlock means (8) is released thereby allowing it to pivot back and re-engage with the protrusion (7).

Intumescent interlocking collar

An interlocking intumescent collar is disclosed. The collar may be fitted around a pipe at the point where the pipe penetrates a wall or floor. The collar comprises a strip of intumescent material disposed on a collar body. Anchor tabs extend outward from the collar body and are adapted to be fastened to the wall or floor. The collar includes an interlock integral with the anchor tabs. The interlock holds the tabs in overlapping relationship when the collar is placed around a pipe. The interlock integral with the anchor tabs decreases manufacturing costs and facilitates the field installation of the collar.

Metal plate rotating friction riveting method

The invention relates to a metal plate rotating friction riveting method which adopts a semitubular rivet, a cylindrical punching lever and a die, wherein the semitubular rivet comprises an integrally arranged clamping lever, a rivet cap and a semitubular rivet shank, the head of the cylindrical punching lever is provided with a rotary circular pit, and the middle part of the pit is provided with a protruding plug; the cylindrical punching lever is vertically positioned in the die and supported by the die; and the shape of the circular piston hole in the die is matched with that of the cylindrical punching lever. The invention provides a riveting technology for metal plate connection in a wider application range, and also provides a new metal plate riveting method aiming at the defects in the existing riveting technology. The invention uses the plug-free semitubular rivet, and the mechanical interlock between the plate and the rivet is formed by the extrusion of the punching lever with a tapered plug at the head; and thus, the rivet structure is simplified, and the rivet can rotate into the metal plate more easily, so that the extrusion pressure required by the rivet swelling strain for forming the mechanical interlock is reduced.

Interlock system

An interlock system for actuating a switch to interrupt a flow of electrical current to a component of a domestic electrical appliance is described. The current is interrupted unless a sensor indicates that the appliance is in a safe condition, and the system includes a rod-like member which is turned about its own axis through at least a predetermined angle, when the appliance is safe, to actuate the switch to permit current to flow. The safe condition is typified by the secure placement of a lid or cover on a receptacle in a manner intended for operation of the appliance. Moreover, the lid or cover for the receptacle may be formed with an upstanding, chimney-like feed-tube through which food items can be added for processing in the receptacle, and a “pusher” device, sized to fit closely within the feed tube, is further provided, by means of which a user can urge foodstuffs into the receptacle for processing. In such circumstances, and where a feed-tube is of relatively wide dimensions is employed to enable relatively bulky food items to be added to the receptacle, the system senses not only that the lid or cover is in place, but also that a pusher device has been inserted into the feed-tube, before the switch can be actuated.

Control system for outdoor power equipment

A control system for a BBC on a mower comprises a pivotal bail and a pivotal housing that is linked to the BBC. If a push member on the housing is pushed inwardly from the side of the housing before the bail is pivoted, then a pin moves to a blocking position behind the bail. Subsequent pivoting of the bail will pivot the housing to actuate the BBC. A channel in the housing frictionally grips the bail to prevent rebound of the bail when a spring force resets the housing and the bail to their initial positions after the operator releases the bail. Movement of the push member also closes an interlock switch which will kill operation of the engine if a grass discharge outlet on the mower is un-covered.
