Silicon compound

A large part of conventional organic-inorganic composite materials is obtained by mechanical blending silsesquioxanes with organic polymers, and therefore it has been very difficult to control the structure thereof as the molecular aggregate of the composite materials. An object of the present invention is to provide a novel silicon compound having a living radical polymerization-initiating ability for an addition-polymerizable monomer and a polymer obtained using the same to thereby solve the problem described above regarding the conventional organic-inorganic composite materials. The present inventors have found that a novel silsesquioxane derivative to which a group having an ability to initiate polymerization of a monomer is useful as means for solving the problem described above. That is, the silsesquioxane derivative of the present invention is represented by Formula (1):wherein R1 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or arylalkyl; R2 and R3 are alkyl, phenyl or cyclohexyl; and A is a group having an ability to initiate polymerization of a monomer.

The invention discloses a bridged-ring dithiophene-phenothiazine dye and application thereof in a dye-sensitized solar cell. The bridged-ring dithiophene-phenothiazine dye is a pure organic dye by taking phenothiazine as an electron donor, wherein the phenothiazine electron donor is introduced into bridged-ring dithiophene as an extra electron donor, and the bridged-ring dithiophene is 2,2'-bithiophene wrapped with a cyclic alkyl chain, has relatively high steric hindrance, is beneficial to improving of the optical and electrical properties of the dye and has the effects of inhibiting dye molecular aggregation and electron recombination; and meanwhile, cyanoacetic acid groups are introduced as an electron acceptor and anchored groups. The dye is applied to a working electrode of the dye-sensitized solar cell as a sensitizer, constructs a dense layer on the surface of nanometer titanium dioxide of the working electrode, covers the surface of titanium dioxide, can effectively inhibit electron recombination, increases an open circuit voltage and thus effectively improving the optical and electrical properties of the dye-sensitized solar cell.
