Method and apparatus for the detection of faults in data computations

A method and apparatus for detecting and mitigating faults in numerical computations of M input data streams is claimed (embodiments of FIG. 1 and FIG. 14). Such faults may occur due to circuit or processor malfunctions stemming from (but not limited to): supply voltage or current fluctuation, timing signal errors, hardware device noise, or other signalling, hardware, or software non-idealities. The invented method and apparatus for numerical entanglement linearly superimposes M input data streams to form M numerically-entangled data streams that can optionally be stored in-place of the original inputs (as in the example embodiments of: Step 2 of FIG. 1 and item 1054 of FIG. 14). A series of operations, such as (but not limited to): scaling, additions / subtractions, inner or outer vector or matrix products and permutations, can then be performed directly using these entangled data streams (as in the example embodiment of Step 3 of FIG. 1, operator g of FIG. 2, FIGS. 6-11, item 1053 of FIG. 14). The output results are disentangled from the M entangled output streams by additions and arithmetic shifts (example embodiments of Steps 4 and 5 of FIG. 1, “disentanglement and fault checking” of FIG. 2, item 1056 of FIG. 14). A post-computation reliability check detects processing errors affecting disentangled outputs (example embodiments of item 1056 of FIG. 14, FIGS. 15a, 15b, 16a, 16b, 17a, 17b).

The present invention discloses a cobalt oxide doped basic bismuth carbonate / bismuth oxychloride photocatalyst, which comprises, by weight, 55-90% of basic bismuth carbonate (Bi2O2CO3) and 10-45% of bismuth oxychloride (BiOCl). The preparation method comprises: (1) adding Bi2O2CO3 to a BiOCl aqueous solution, and carrying out ultrasonic dispersion for 30 min, wherein the mass of the cobalt chloride is 5-30% of the mass of the basic bismuth carbonate; and (2) carrying out heating stirring on the ultrasonic dispersion mixing solution obtained in the step at a temperature of 100 DEG C until the water is completely evaporated, grinding into powder, heating to a temperature of 350 DEG C at a rate of 5 DEG C / min, and calcining for 3 h to obtain the basic bismuth carbonate / bismuth oxychloride photocatalyst. According to the present invention, the method is simple and rapid, can improve the catalytic efficiency of the catalyst, and is suitable for industrial production, and the obtained basic bismuth carbonate / bismuth oxychloride photocatalyst can be widely used in the fields of organic pollutant degradation, photocatalytic decomposition water-to-hydrogen, and the like.

High offset bits with super-abrasive cutters

A roller bit is provided having super-abrasive inserts on cutting portions to assure that the bit will maintain cutting efficiency. In the described exemplary bits, the axes of the roller cones are also offset by a significant or “high offset” amount from the central longitudinal axis of the bit, thereby providing for increased shearing and grinding action by the bit. The use of high offset in combination with super-abrasive inserts provides for optimal bit cutting designs which provide increases in ROP while preserving the bit's ability to hold gage and remain durable to achieve acceptable footage.
