The method for absorbing the SO2 gas by using the halogenated alkyl quaternary ammonium salt ionic liquid is characterized in that the halogenated alkyl quaternary ammonium salt ionic liquid is used as an absorbent of the SO2 gas to allow the SO2 gas to be absorbed to pass through the ionic liquid or a solution of the ionic liquid or a vector compounded or loaded by the ionic liquid. The method overcomes the drawbacks of the prior art and has the characteristics of unique method, simple technological process, easy operation, high SO2 absorption efficiency, low cost, no secondary pollution, recycling, good effect and wide application range. In addition, the method has the advantages of good economic environmental and social benefits. The synthetic process of the adopted ionic liquid is simple, pollution-free and recyclable, and can recover high-purity SO2 and prepare sulfuric acid.
