Flow distributor and baffle system for a falling film evaporator

A falling film evaporator includes a flow distributor for uniformly distributing a two-phase refrigerant mixture across a tube bundle. The flow distributor includes a stack of at least three perforated plates each of which are separated by nearly full-width, full-length gaps or chambers. The flow distributor may also include a suction baffle and / or a distributor baffle. The distributor baffle extends downward to provide a hairpin turn past which refrigerant travels before exiting the evaporator. This directional change helps separate liquid from a primarily gaseous refrigerant stream. The suction baffle has various size openings to ensure that the flow rate of refrigerant through the hairpin turn is generally uniform and is maintained low enough to ensure liquid disentrainment over and along the length of the tube bundle within the evaporator.

Innovations for the display of web pages

Web pages are displayed with a simultaneous overview and magnified view. An indicator can show the portion of the overview in the magnified view. Both views can be shown, one above the other, across the full width of the same screen. A user can select between such a split view and another view, including an overview-only view, a magnified-only view, and a view in which selected text is laid out to fit the width of the magnified view. Navigational input can directly move the layout in the magnified view or the cursor, and can scroll both the overview and magnified view. The magnified view can display text with antialiased fonts designed for its resolution. The magnified view can be made to function like a magnifying glass. The width of text in multicolumn layouts can be limited to fit the width of a view window, such as the magnified-view.

Wavelength conversion for producing white light from high power blue LED

A white light LED is described that uses an LED die that emits visible blue light in a wavelength range of about 450-470 nm. A red phosphor or quantum dot material converts some of the blue light to a visible red light having a peak wavelength between about 605-625 nm with a full-width-half-maximum (FWHM) less than 80 nm. A green phosphor or quantum dot material converts some of the blue light to a green light having a FWHM greater than 40 nm, wherein the combination of the blue light, red light, and green light produces a white light providing a color rendering of Ra,8>90 and a color temperature of between 2500K-5000K. Preferably, the red and green converting material do not saturate with an LED die output of 100 W / cm2 and can reliably operate with an LED die junction temperature over 100 degrees C.

Graphical device for comprehensive viewing and input of variable data via a browser-based display

A graphical input device, preferably in a browser-based display, resembles a pull-down menu, with a displayed data entry field. The set of possible entries to be displayed along with the graphical input device varies depending on the user. The minimum display width needed for full-width display of the entries is evaluated by scripting and the actual display of the set is generated accordingly. The drop-down list and its listed entries may be wider than the data entry field. The user can thus view and select customized possible entries that cannot fit within the displayed data entry field. According to another aspect of the preferred embodiment of the invention, when the user is making selections from the drop-down list, multiple keyboard entries can be used to cause rapid scrolling to entries that match not only the first character entered, but also to entries whose first n characters match n characters entered while viewing the list. For hierarchically structured and itemized entry lists, matching is preferably performed first to the right of at least one delimiter. The various novel aspects of the invention are implemented using scripting embedded within HTML code so that they are available to users who are browsing web content.

Rear-mounted aerodynamic structure for truck cargo bodies

ActiveUS20080309122A1Reduce resistanceRapid and easy transitionVehicle seatsWindowsEngineeringActuator
This invention provides an aerodynamic structure attached to the rear face of a truck cargo body, which rear typically contains a door assembly, with a plurality of doors that swing open on hinges, or a single, full-width door, which rolls upwardly. The various embodiments of the invention allow an aerodynamic structure to be permanently attached to the rear of the trailer in a manner that would obscure access to the door(s) in a deployed position, in which the aerodynamic structure generates reduced drag on the trailer body, yet enables ready access to the door(s) in a folded position. The folded position still allows the rear of the trailer to be fully accessible for loading and unloading, and in the case of swinging, hinged doors (among others), allows the doors to be folded through a full 270-degree arc from a closed position to a position flush along the sides of the vehicle, with a minimal sideways projection. The various embodiments also enable relatively rapid and easy transition between the folded position and the deployed position using a variety of actuators and linkages that tie the folding and deployment of various panels of the structure together. This allows an operator to selectively fold and deploy the structure without undue effort or strength.

Sickle knife with double overlapping out of phase sickles

A sickle knife system includes two reciprocating sickles each cooperating the same fixed knife guards and each extending across the full width of the cutter bar. The guards have slots approximately twice the height of the guard of a conventional single sickle arrangement so that the two sickles can be run one on top of the other inside the guards. The width of the sickle blades at the rear edge is similar to that of the guard near the rear of its cutting edge. The blades of the top sickle are sharpened to cut against the top surface of the slot and the blades of the bottom sickle are sharpened to cut against the bottom surface of the slot. The two sickles are run out of phase, preferably about 90 degrees, so that as a result, when one sickle is near the end of its stroke within the guard where it decelerates, stops, then accelerates in the opposite direction, the other sickle is starting its cut against the side surface of the next guard.

High Resistivity Metal Fan Out

The formation of metal traces in the border areas of a touch sensor panel to provide improved reliability, better noise rejection, and lower manufacturing costs is disclosed. The metal traces can be coupled to rows on the touch sensor panel in an interleaved manner, so that any two successive rows can be coupled to metal traces in border areas on opposite sides of the touch sensor panel. In addition, by utilizing the full width available in the border areas in some embodiments, the metal traces can be formed from higher resistivity metal, which can reduce manufacturing costs and improve trace reliability. The wider traces can also provide better noise immunity from noise sources such as an LCD by providing a larger fixed-potential surface area and by more effectively coupling the drive lines to the fixed potential.

System and method for spatial gray balance calibration using hybrid sensing systems

The method and system for printer color calibration use a combination of a full-width array (FWA) or similar page-scanning mechanism in conjunction with an spectrophotometer color measurement system in the output path of a color printer for measuring colors (e.g., on printed test sheets, banner / separation pages, etc.) with or without requiring any manual operations or operator involvement. The automatic color balance control system produces spatial tonal reproduction values for all four of the primary colors by printing patches, measuring colors using the sensor combination and automatically readjusting the spatial tone reproduction curves until a satisfactory level of printed color accuracy and uniformity are obtained. While producing color balanced TRCs, the system will automatically lock the printer output to some predetermined color patch targets. In one particular preferred embodiment, this output is locked to neutral gray when target colors are set to neutral gray inside the digital front end (DFE). After converging to the targets, the control system returns full TRCs for use inside the normal print path.

A layer of adhesive, covered by a protective release coated liner of partial width is applied to the second laminate web, and between the first and second laminate webs. At the other side of the web another layer of adhesive is applied along with another protective liner. A die cut in the composite web defines the outline of a plurality of adjacent self laminating wristbands which may be separated from the web by tearing along the die cut. A second die cut forms a slot in each wristband carrier to be used along with the strap end to fasten the wristband to a wearer, in cinch and strap manner. A continuous web includes a continuous number wristband with cinch attachment although a page or sheet may be cut to any desired shape or number of wristbands.

Image quality control method and apparatus for multiple marking engine systems

A full width array CCD sensor is incorporated in the media path to monitor fused pages by calculating area coverage from multiple engines in a Tightly Integrated Parallel Process (TIPP) architecture. With knowledge of the area coverage differences between print engines for a given pixel count to the ROS, a relative density difference of each engine is determined. Based on the determined relative density difference, an adjustment is calculated and applied to the engine with the largest error to match the area coverage(s) of the other engine(s).
