Quartz member such as a quartz tube for semiconductor manufacturing equipment capable of heat treating a substrate to be treated without causing contamination, a manufacturing method of such quartz member, thermal treatment equipment furnished with such quartz member, and an analysis method of metal in quartz member are provided. A quartz specimen is immersed in hydrofluoric acid to expose a layer to be analyzed located at a prescribed depth. On an exposed surface, a decomposition liquid such as hydrofluoric acid or nitric acid is dripped to decompose only an extremely thin layer to be analyzed, followed by recovering of the decomposition liquid. The decomposition liquid is quantitatively analyzed by use of atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) or the like to measure an amount of metal contained in the decomposition liquid. From a difference of thicknesses before and after the decomposition and an area of dripped decomposition liquid, a volume of a decomposed layer to be analyzed is obtained. From this and the amount of metal contained in the decomposition liquid, a concentration of metal contained in the layer to be analyzed, in addition a diffusion coefficient of a layer to be analyzed is calculated. With thus obtained diffusion coefficient as an index, quartz material in which metal diffuses with difficulty is sorted out. With thus sorted quartz material, a quartz member used for semiconductor manufacturing equipment such as a quartz tube is manufactured.

Method of treating metal analysis sample and device thereof

The present invention provides a pre-treatment apparatus for an analytical metal sample, the apparatus including (1) a treatment chamber having a sample charging port which can be opened and closed and provided at the top of the chamber, a sample discharging port which can be opened and closed and provided at the bottom of the chamber, and a gas inlet and gas outlet, (2) a sample carrying bar joined to a sample holder also used as a sputtering electrode, and provided to pass through at least one side wall of the treatment chamber so as to be substantially horizontally movable and axially rotatable, and (3) a sputtering counter electrode at least having portions arranged opposite to each other in a region not inhibiting the charge and discharge of an analytical metal sample so that the sample holder can be arranged in the counter electrode. The present invention also provides a pre-treatment method capable of simply cleaning the surface of the analytical metal sample by using the pre-treatment apparatus and preventing re-contamination of the cleaned sample by exposure to the air or the like. Furthermore, the present invention provides an analysis apparatus provided with the pre-treatment apparatus to permit high-accuracy quantitative determination of trace elements of metals.

Analytical sample drying method and drying apparatus

A soil for metal analysis having a high water content percentage of 40% or above is dried to a water content percentage of 20% or below within a short period of time. A filter paper (5) is disposed on an internal bottom face plate (2) of nutsche (1). Powder of a highly water absorbent resin material (6) is uniformly spread (charged) on the superior surface thereof. Further, a filter paper (7) is disposed thereon. A soil sample of high water content percentage is stuffed on the superior surface thereof to thereby attain predrying to a water content of about 30%. Thereafter, ethanol is added to the predried soil sample, agitated and placed on a reception pan (38). The reception pan (38) is put in a drying chamber (37). Water is fed into a reaction vessel (42) filled with calcium oxide or barium oxide by the use of a syringe (43) to thereby react the calcium oxide or barium oxide with water.The reception pan (38) is heated by the then generated reaction heat to thereby attain postdrying to a water content percentage of 20% or below.
