The invention relates to a method for preparing modified loess with high adsorption performance. The method comprises the following steps of: (1) after stirring loess, distilled water and acrylic acid uniformly under room temperature, dropwise adding a NaOH solution with neutralization being 40-90% for neutralization to obtain a neutralization solution; (2) then adding hydroxyethyl methacrylate to the neutralization solution and stirring the materials uniformly to obtain mixed liquor; and (3) adding a crosslinking agent glycidyl methacrylate to the mixed liquor, heating the materials to 40-90 DEG C after introducing inert gases, finally adding an initiator ammonium persulfate, stirring the materials for 20-120 minutes when raising the temperature to 50-95 DEG C, thus generating a composite, and washing and drying the composite to a constant weight, thus obtaining the loess-based polymer composite adsorbent. The method has the following advantages that the natural loess is used as the raw material and is modified by acrylic acid and hydroxyethyl methacrylate to obtain the loess-based polymer composite adsorbent; and the loess-based polymer composite adsorbent is applied to treatment of wastewater containing heavy metal ions and dyes and has the characteristics of strong absorbability and large adsorption capacity.
