The invention discloses a method for preparing a porous glass filter element for a water purifier. The method comprises the following steps: crushing and ball-milling the recycled glass, mixing with a certain amount of boric acid, spraying a certain amount of inorganic salt solution, drying, adding an adhesive of a certain mass, uniformly mixing, pressing, molding, and sintering, thereby obtaining an initial sample; adding the sample into water at the temperature of 100 DEG C or ultrasonic waves for cleaning, thereby obtaining porous glass with through holes. According to the porous glass filter element disclosed by the invention, the problems such as high preparation temperature, low strength, extremely large pore diameter and the like are solved, and the porous glass filter element has the advantages of excellent physical performance, high chemical stability, low preparation temperature, low cost, simple process flow and the like.
