Cross-frame object reconstruction for image-based cytology applications

Methods, computer software, and systems for analyzing a biological specimen (e.g., a cytological specimen) on a slide is provided. Magnified image data frames of the biological specimen are taken at different locations on the slide. An object that is not entirely contained within at least one of the image data frames is identified, and complementary portions of the object respectively located in different ones of the image data frames are matched. A fully integrated object is created from the matched object portions. Attributes of the integrated object are then analyzed.

Method and system for cascaded processing a plurality of data objects

Systems and methods are provided for cascaded processing a plurality of data objects. Each data object may be assigned to a folder among a plurality of folders, wherein a main process distributes the plurality of folders to a corresponding number of parallel processes of a first tier of processes. Each parallel process may select the data objects to be processed for the respective folder, split the selected data objects into packages of appropriate size, respectively, and distribute the packages similar to a cascade to a corresponding number of further parallel sub-processes of a second tier of processes, whereupon each package is processed.

The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for automatically converting thermal displacement compensation parameters of a machine tool, wherein, according to operation states of a machine tool or various types of machine tools, compensation parameters of a thermal displacement compensation equation for a machine tool are automatically converted in real time such that the same can be optimized for a current thermal displacement status of the machine tool, on the basis of thermal displacement data of the machine tool, calculated by measuring z-direction or y-direction displacement data of the tool end of a reference tool, measured by a tool measurement unit, or the processed portion of a machined material, and temperature data measured by a temperature measurement unit. Therefore, the present invention can improve the machining accuracy of a machine tool by minimizing machining errors due to thermal displacement.

Method of filling liquid crystal display panel with liquid crystal and liquid crystal filling system performing the same

In a method of filling a liquid crystal display panel with liquid crystal and a liquid crystal filling system using the method, a seal line and spacers are formed on a color filter substrate. A first volume defined by the seal line and a second volumes defined by the spacers are obtained. An amount of liquid crystal to be supplied into a region enclosed by the seal line is precisely calculated based on the first and second volumes. Shortage of the liquid crystal supplied into the LCD panel and overflow of the liquid crystal can be avoided. Accordingly, the steps for supplying the liquid crystal into the LCD panel may be reduced, and simultaneously peripheral regions of the LCD panel be prevented from being contaminated by the liquid crystal while the liquid crystal is filled into the LCD panel.

Morphing chart animations in a browser

Morphing animations between arbitrary chart states in a web client application are provided. A morphing animation engine interpolates changes between a first output state (before geometry) and a second output state (after geometry), aligning the before and after geometries by semantic identifiers encoded in the geometry. The morphing animation engine further performs simple geometric transitions of geometric primitives for producing an unlimited number of intermediate states (key frames) between any two arbitrary chart states without requiring per frame layouts. According to an aspect, processing times for producing intermediate frames are minimized, allowing for animations to have consistent rendering and achieving a high frame rate (60 FPS).

Method for dehydrating and consolidating a porous optical fiber preform

A method for dehydrating and consolidating a porous optical fiber preform in a heating apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a muffle in which the porous optical fiber preform is placed and a plurality of multi-stage heaters attached to an outer circumference of the muffle in a longitudinal direction of the preform. The preform is placed in the muffle such that the multi-stage heaters surround a total length of the preform. The preform is heated and dehydrated in a state in which a temperature of the multi-stage heaters reaches a dehydrating temperature of the preform. A temperature of one heater selected from the heaters is raised to a consolidating temperature of the preform. The dehydrated preform is moved and is passed through a high temperature zone formed by the selected heater in the muffle. The dehydrated preform is consolidated.

Method for making brake discs in fiber reinforced material and brake disc made with such method

A brake disc made of fiber-reinforced material includes a braking band having a predetermined thickness. The method for making the brake discs includes setting up a winding mandrel and forming at least one layer of fibers having a predetermined width. The layer of fibers is impregnated with a binder resin. The impregnated layer is wound about the mandrel, forming a hollow cylindrical body having a predefined outer diameter and an inner diameter substantially equivalent to the mandrel diameter. The layer of fibers is wound about the mandrel in a winding direction substantially parallel to the lengthwise direction of the layer. The cylindrical body is heated to at least partly cross-link the binder resin and obtain a solid semi-finished cylindrical body. The cylindrical body is cut in slices transversely to the cylindrical body axis according to predetermined thicknesses. Each slice is a disc-shaped body defining the disc's braking band.
