753 results about "High frame rate" patented technology

High frame rate. In motion picture technology—either film or video—high frame rate (HFR) refers to higher frame rates than typical prior practice. The frame rate for motion picture film cameras was typically 24 frames per second (fps) with multiple flashes on each frame during projection to prevent flicker.

Systems and methods for additive manufacturing and repair of metal components

Scanning Laser Epitaxy (SLE) is a layer-by-layer additive manufacturing process that allows for the fabrication of three-dimensional objects with specified microstructure through the controlled melting and re-solidification of a metal powders placed atop a base substrate. SLE can be used to repair single crystal (SX) turbine airfoils, for example, as well as the manufacture functionally graded turbine components. The SLE process is capable of creating equiaxed, directionally solidified, and SX structures. Real-time feedback control schemes based upon an offline model can be used both to create specified defect free microstructures and to improve the repeatability of the process. Control schemes can be used based upon temperature data feedback provided at high frame rate by a thermal imaging camera as well as a melt-pool viewing video microscope. A real-time control scheme can deliver the capability of creating engine ready net shape turbine components from raw powder material.

Image sensor producing at least two integration times from each sensing pixel

Designs and operational methods to increase the dynamic range of image sensors and APS devices in particular by achieving more than one integration times for each pixel thereof. An APS system with more than one column-parallel signal chains for readout are described for maintaining a high frame rate in readout. Each active pixel is sampled for multiple times during a single frame readout, thus resulting in multiple integration times. The operation methods can also be used to obtain multiple integration times for each pixel with an APS design having a single column-parallel signal chain for readout. Furthermore, analog-to-digital conversion of high speed and high resolution can be implemented.

Video speed detection system

A system and method for measuring vehicle speeds using video sensing. The system comprises a tracking camera that generates accurately time-stamped video sequences of the monitored road at high frame rates and a processing unit that analyzes the video sequences in real time to detect moving vehicles and calculate their speeds using the time-over-distance method. The system automatically detects moving vehicles in each image frame and derives vehicle positions from a projective mapping established from reference markers on the road. Time information is obtained from the date and time stamp associated with each image frame. In one example, the system also allows a user of the system to set a trigger speed, and the system automatically saves a video clip of the vehicle whose speed exceeds the trigger speed, recording the speeding vehicle passing through the monitored traffic zone defined by the reference markers.

Image sensor pixel for global electronic shuttering

A pixel design for CMOS image sensors that has a high frame rate potential and, therefore, provides motion capture capabilities. The pixel is designed for global electronic shuttering so every pixel is exposed simultaneously to images incident upon the pixel array plane. The present invention has the advantages of: (1) Allowing the accommodation of changes in the pixel output groupings for different monochrome output format or CFA patterns with only changes in metal routing layers; (2) allowing true electronic shuttering to image moving scene with all the pixels having the same capture time windows; and (3) providing a symmetric global shutter gate and transfer gate to minimize pixel related fixed pattern noise. The pixel architecture provides for a CMOS based, active pixel image sensor comprising an array of pixels formed in rows and columns, with each of the pixels containing at least one active circuit element. There are a plurality of output channels formed such that each of the output channels are operatively connected to a subset of pixels wherein each of the pixel have an attribute that is the same. The pixel architecture also provides an output gate region and a shutter gate region that are symmetric about the center of the pixel. By arranging the shutter and transfer gates, a symmetric manner about the center of the pixel, a more efficient transfer of electrons to these gates is provided. A Pixel Output Bus structure allows configurable connections to column-wise signal busses that provide parallel output channels.

Low vision video magnifier

A low-vision viewer magnifies the face-up source material in the visual field of a camera and displays the magnified image on a VDU or other display means. In a static mode, the camera captures and stores a high-resolution image of the source material. This high-resolution image can be manipulated and subsequently displayed on the VDU. In a live mode, the camera captures a low resolution image of the source material or a high resolution image of a section of the source material to provide a high frame rate for full motion video. In the live capture mode, the low-vision user can move their view around the source material and zoom in on a desired section of interest. The same camera is used in either static or live modes.

Determining Material Stiffness Using Multiple Aperture Ultrasound

Changes in tissue stiffness have long been associated with disease. Systems and methods for determining the stiffness of tissues using ultrasonography may include a device for inducing a propagating shear wave in tissue and tracking the speed of propagation, which is directly related to tissue stiffness and density. The speed of a propagating shear wave may be detected by imaging a tissue at a high frame rate and detecting the propagating wave as a perturbance in successive image frames relative to a baseline image of the tissue in an undisturbed state. In some embodiments, sufficiently high frame rates may be achieved by using a ping-based ultrasound imaging technique in which unfocused omni-directional pings are transmitted (in an imaging plane or in a hemisphere) into a region of interest. Receiving echoes of the omnidirectional pings with multiple receive apertures allows for substantially improved lateral resolution.

Method for optical flow field estimation using adaptive Filting

A motion estimation process in video coding takes into account the estimates in the immediate spatio-temporal neighborhood, through an adaptive filtering mechanism, in order to produce a smooth and coherent optical flow field at each pixel position. The adaptive filtering mechanism includes a recursive LMS filter based on pixel-wise algorithm for obtaining motion vectors in a reference image of a video image frame, while consecutively scanning through individual pixels of the image frame. This motion estimation process is particularly well suited for the estimation of small displacements within consecutive video frames, and can be applied in several applications such as super-resolution, stabilization, denoising of video sequences. The method is also well suited for high frame rate video capture.
