Information transmission system using light as communication medium, information transmission method, image pickup device, and computer programmed product

A CPU 36 of a light emitting unit 30 fetches ith bit of transmission information TX stored in a transmission data memory 33 in synchronization with a clock signal CK from a timing generator 35. The CUP 36 determines the bit value and fetches a first pattern sequence SA from a pattern data memory 44 when the bit is logic signal 1, and fetches a second pattern sequence SB from a pattern data memory 34 when the bit is logic signal 0, and outputs the first pattern sequence SA and second pattern sequence SB to a light emitting section 37. While, a CPU 39 of a light receiving unit 40 extracts a pixel area with a time sequence luminance variation pattern from a frame image captured into a capture image buffer 46, and binarizes the luminance variation pattern, and performs logic determination. A liquid crystal display 44 displays information of a light emitting area to be overlapped with a subject image.

Methods, architecture, and apparatus for implementing machine intelligence and hierarchical memory systems

Sophisticated memory systems and intelligent machines may be constructed by creating an active memory system with a hierarchical architecture. Specifically, a system may comprise a plurality of individual cortical processing units arranged into a hierarchical structure. Each individual cortical processing unit receives a sequence of patterns as input. Each cortical processing unit processes the received input sequence of patterns using a memory containing previously encountered sequences with structure and outputs another pattern. As several input sequences are processed by a cortical processing unit, it will therefore generate a sequence of patterns on its output. The sequence of patterns on its output may be passed as an input to one or more cortical processing units in next higher layer of the hierarchy. A lowest layer of cortical processing units may receive sensory input from the outside world. The sensory input also comprises a sequence of patterns.

Threshold adjustment of transistors including high-k metal gate electrode structures comprising an intermediate etch stop layer

During the formation of sophisticated gate electrode structures, a replacement gate approach may be applied in which plasma assisted etch processes may be avoided. To this end, one of the gate electrode structures may receive an intermediate etch stop liner, which may allow the replacement of the placeholder material and the adjustment of the work function in a later manufacturing stage. The intermediate etch stop liner may not negatively affect the gate patterning sequence.

Compound structured light projection system for 3-D surface profiling

A method and apparatus is provided for high speed, non-contact method of measuring the 3-D coordinates of a dense grid of points on a surface, including high accuracy interpolation between grid points. A plurality of pulsed laser sub-projectors sequentially illuminates a plurality of discrete Gray code bar pattern transparencies carried on a spinning circular code disk to project high frame rate structured light. The structured light is reflected by the surface and recorded at high signal-to-noise ratio by a plurality of high frame rate digital cameras, then decoded and interpolated by electronic signal processing. A numerical formula is derived for numbers of equally spaced discrete code patterns on the code disk that allow each camera to receive pulses from all sub-projectors and all patterns at a constant frame rate. Methods to derive an extended complementary Gray code pattern sequence and to normalize measured signal amplitudes are presented.

Method of and base station for controlling beam forming in a mobile cellular network

The invention concerns a method and a base station (21) for controlling beam forming in a mobile cellular network: Antenna units (212) of base stations (21) of a cluster of neighbored base stations (21) apply a respective beam pattern sequence on each sector of a cell served by the respective base station (21). The beam pattern sequence is selected from a respective predefined set of beam pattern sequences and each beam pattern sequence defines a sequence of beam subsets used for communication with mobile units (41, 42, 43, 44). One of the base stations (21) of the cluster which acts as trigger base station informs all neighbored base stations of the cluster of neighbored base stations (21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27) not to change their beam pattern sequences. The trigger base station (21) controls the antenna unit (212) of the trigger base station (21) to change the beam pattern sequence applied on the sectors of the cell and sequently apply two or more different beam pattern sequences of the predefined set of beam pattern sequences on the respective sector. The trigger base station (21) triggers one or more mobile units (41, 42, 43, 44) located in the cluster of neighbored base stations to calculate one or more signal quality parameters for currently applied beam pattern sequences of the trigger base station (21). The trigger base station (21) selects an optimal beam pattern sequence from the set of the predefined beam pattern sequences based on the one or more calculated signal quality parameters and the antenna unit (212) of the trigger base station (21) applies the optimal beam pattern sequence as a new beam pattern sequence on the respective sector.

Parallel processing pattern generation system for an integrated circuit tester

A parallel processing pattern generation system for an integrated circuit tester includes two pattern memories, a main pattern generator, and two auxiliary pattern generators. Each pattern memory may receive and store data patterns from a host computer before the test. All three pattern generators may produce data pattern sequences in a variety of ways by executing separately stored algorithmic programs. The pattern sequences generated by each of the two auxiliary pattern generators separately address the two pattern memories so that either one or both of the two pattern memories may read out pattern data during a test. The main pattern generator includes a routing circuit for receiving as inputs a portion of the pattern data generated by the main pattern generator itself and the pattern data read out of the two pattern memories. The routing circuit, controlled by another portion of the pattern data produced by the main pattern generator, selects from among its inputs on a bit-by-bit, cycle-by-cycle basis to provide pattern data for controlling tester activities during each cycle of a test.

Wake Channel Indication for Passive Entry System

A passive entry system receives an electromagnetic interrogation signal transmitted from an interrogation antenna to a remote transponder, wherein the interrogation signal includes a wakeup pattern data sequence. A plurality of channel signals is generated within the transponder from a corresponding plurality of antennas in response to the electromagnetic interrogation signal. Bit detection is performed on each of the plurality of channel signals to detect the wakeup pattern sequence. A received signal strength indicator (RSSI) of the interrogation signal is determined using the plurality of channel signals, wherein only channel signals on which a valid wakeup pattern sequence is detected are used for determining the RSSI. A wakeup signal is asserted to wake up a processing module in the remote transponder only when the wakeup pattern sequence is detected on at least one of the plurality of channel signals.

A method that estimates the coordinates of the calibration points in the projector image plane using local homographies obtained from the imaging camera. First, a dense set of correspondences between projector and camera pixels is found by projecting onto the calibration object an identical pattern sequence as the one later projected when scanning the target, reusing most of the software components written for the scanning application. Second, the set of correspondences is used to compute a group of local homographies that allow projection back of any of the points in the calibration object onto the projector image plane with sub-pixel precision. In the end, the data projector is then calibrated as a normal camera.

Methods and systems for accessing data from a DVD using a sync detector including a 26 state finite state machine

An apparatus and a method to access data from a digital recording medium configured to store data in sectors delimited by a predetermined sequence of sync patterns. The apparatus includes a sync pattern detector and a sync sequence detector to detect whether a sequence of sync patterns detected by the sync pattern detector matches the predetermined sync pattern sequence. The sync sequence detector generates a sync error signal whenever a detected sync pattern fails to match an expected sync pattern taken from the predetermined sync pattern sequence. A sync error signal counter counts the number of sync error signals generated by the sync sequence detector and a comparator compares the number of sync error signals counted by the sync error signal counter with a sync error threshold, the comparator generating a disk error signal when the threshold is exceeded. As the method and the implementing device need not rely upon the successful detection of any one sync pattern in the sector including the first sync pattern of the sector, data accesses may be carried out even though the first or a predetermined number of subsequent sync patterns in the sector may be unreadable or corrupted.
