674 results about "Morphing" patented technology

Morphing is a special effect in motion pictures and animations that changes (or morphs) one image or shape into another through a seamless transition. Traditionally such a depiction would be achieved through cross-fading techniques on film. Since the early 1990s, this has been replaced by computer software to create more realistic transitions.

Intelligent modeling, transformation and manipulation system

The present invention relates to a method of intelligent 2D and 3D object and scene modeling, transformation and manipulation and more particularly this invention relates to the field of computer modeling, virtual reality, animation and 3D Web streaming. The method uses attributed hypergraph representations (AHR) for modeling, transforming and manipulating objects. From one or more 2D views of a 3D object or scene, range information is first computed and then a triangular mesh model is constructed. The data structure is designed to handle the transformations on the representation corresponding to movements and deformations of the object. In an attributed hypergraph, the attributes associated with the hyperedges and the vertices facilitates modeling of various shapes with geometrical, physical or behavior features. As a hierarchical and generic representation, AHR enables pattern matching, recognition, synthesis and manipulation to be carried out at different resolution levels on different subsets depending on the context. Symbolic computation on knowledge represented in the format of attributed hypergraphs becomes straightforward. Given the features of a 3D object or scene, the procedure of constructing the AHR corresponds to the concept of functor in category theory, which maps one category to another one. The transformations of AHR are in the form of a set of operations defined on attributed hypergraphs, which stand for the motions and deformations of the object. This representation is applied to various modeling and manipulation tasks on 3D objects. The process of motion analysis of a 3D object is the task of extracting a sequence of AH operators from the AHR of the object. A 3D scene can be modeled by AHR and then altered / augmented with other 3D models, by which an augmented reality can be built. Given the AHR's of two different 3D shapes, 3D morphing may be accomplished by matching the two AHR's and then mapping the difference to a sequence of AH operators. Model based animation of an object can be accomplished by applying a set of AH operators to its AHR. The AHR method forms a data compression system for efficient web streaming over the Internet.

Methods and apparatus for supporting and implementing computer based animation

The present invention provides a method for hierarchically decomposing a visual or audio object within an animation into plurality of objects which can be individually edited to achieve particular animation effects. For example, a graphical object may be decomposed into a plurality of graphical sub-objects, each of which is inherits an anchor point from the original object, or is given an original anchor point distinct from the original object. Each sub-object also includes a relative position for the sub-object relative to the anchor point. The path of the anchor point is combined with relative positions of the sub-objects to produce an animation for the object as a whole. This decomposition technique can greatly increase computational efficiency of an animation. It also provides for inheritance of attributes between objects and descendent sub-objects. The objects may support functions, or behaviors, such as morphing or motion blurring. The present invention additionally provides a flexible grouping operation to facilitate modifications to a group of objects. When a first type of modification is made to an attribute of an object in a group, this change is applied to corresponding attributes of other objects in the group. When a second type of modification is made to an attribute of an object in a group, the change only applies to the selected object or objects, and not to other objects in the group. The present invention allows objects to be manipulated on servers which are connected to a display via the Internet.

Customizing players in a video game using morphing from morph targets and other elements

In a video game, a player is allowed to create a character in the video game by selecting feature variables that define a character feature according to two or more target features and a feature variable. The target features can be are morph targets and the feature variable might represent relative distance of the player's desired feature relative to the morph targets. In a specific example, the player might be presented with two face shapes as morph targets and an input slider for a corresponding feature variable where the resulting face feature of the character matches one of the morph targets when the input slider is at one extreme, matches the other morph target when the input slider is at the other extreme and is a combination of the morph targets when the input slider is between the extremes. The character features might include face shape, height, weight, skin color, skin texture, body build, particular sports figures' faces, clothing, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, lips, hands, feet, etc. The player can also purchase items from a shop according to restrictions on cost, sponsorship, availability, time of day, date and / or day of year.

Method and apparatus for shape based deformable segmentation of multiple overlapping objects

The present invention provides a system and method for simultaneous variational and adaptive segmentation of single non-overlapping and multiple overlapping / occluded-objects in an image scene. The method according to the present invention synergistically combines shape priors with boundary and region-based active contours in a level set formulation with a watershed scheme for model initialization for identifying and resolving multiple object overlaps in an image scene. The method according to the present invention comprises learning a shape prior for a target object of interest and applying the shape prior into a hybrid active contour model to segment overlapping and non-overlapping objects simultaneously.

Virtual assistant configured by selection of wake-up phrase

A speech-enabled dialog system responds to a plurality of wake-up phrases. Based on which wake-up phrase is detected, the system's configuration is modified accordingly. Various configurable aspects of the system include selection and morphing of a text-to-speech voice; configuration of acoustic model, language model, vocabulary, and grammar; configuration of a graphic animation; configuration of virtual assistant personality parameters; invocation of a particular user profile; invocation of an authentication function; and configuration of an open sound. Configuration depends on a target market segment. Configuration also depends on the state of the dialog system, such as whether a previous utterance was an information query.
