Power-line communication based surveillance system

A surveillance system configured for communicating with video cameras and other devices connected over a power-line communication network, such as within a residence, or alternatively a commercial building. The system may be manufactured and installed at low cost without the need to route individual cables to each surveillance video camera or device. Bandwidth within the power-line communication network is preferably dynamically allocated to device streams by a server in response to predetermined and event-driven priorities. By way of example, remote communication is supported for allowing remote access to surveillance data and control of the surveillance system. The system may be implemented as a standalone unit or integrated within existing forms of electronics equipment, such as consumer electronics equipment including a television set, a set-top box, or other forms of video-enabled equipment that is adapted for performing power-line network communication.

Transmitting apparatus and method, and receiving apparatus and method

A method of transmitting data symbols via an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) symbols, includes forming data symbols into pairs, generating a first pair of modulation symbols for each of the pairs of data symbols, the first pair of modulation symbols forming first and second modulation symbols of an Alamouti cell, forming a first version of the OFDM symbols by modulating the sub-carriers allocated for carrying the data with the first and second modulation symbols of the Alamouti cells, and modulating the one or more pilot carriers of the first version of the OFDM symbol according to a predetermined pattern. The method also comprises generating a second pair of modulation symbols for each of the pairs of data symbols, the second pair of modulation symbols forming third and fourth modulation symbols of the Alamouti cell formed for the pair of data symbols in the first version of the OFDM symbol, forming a second version of the OFDM symbol by modulating the sub-carriers allocated for carrying the data with the third and fourth modulation symbols of the Alamouti cell, modulating the one or more pilot carriers of the second version of the OFDM symbols according to the predetermined pattern, and transmitting the first version of the OFDM symbol via a first antenna, and the second version of the OFDM symbol via a second antenna. For at least one of the pairs of data symbols, the sub-carriers, on which each of the first and second modulation symbols and the third and fourth modulation symbols forming the Alamouti cells, are separated within the first and second versions of the OFDM symbol by at least one other data bearing sub-carrier or one or more of the pilot carriers.
A transmitter and/or receiver according to the invention find application with the Digitial Video Broadcast-Terestrial 2 (DVB-T2) standard.

Flexible printed circuit board unit contributing to reliable soldering and suppression of increased temperature

A thermal component is mounted on the front surface of an isolator sheet within a first specific area. A thermally-conductive material is located on the back surface of the isolator sheet on the back of the first specific area. An electrically-conductive material is located on the front surface of the isolator sheet within a second specific area. A thermally-insulating material is located on the back surface of the isolator sheet on the back of the second specific area. The flexible printed circuit board unit of this type allows heat of the thermal component to efficiently radiate from the thermally-conductive material. An increase in temperature can be suppressed in the thermal component. Heat can reliably stay in the electrically-conductive material when a solder material is applied to the surface of the electrically-conductive material. The solder material is allowed to reliably fuse.

Gps-based toll collection system and method

InactiveUS20160055466A1Eliminate useImprove the accuracy of the GPS readings of the mobile deviceTicket-issuing apparatusPayment architectureMobile appsToll road
An automatic toll collection system includes a mobile app that receives a plurality of toll gantry information from a database, reads GPS location data received front the mobile device hosting the app, and creates a plurality of trip segments using the GPS location data and time stamp. The system then determines whether the mobile device is travelling on a road where toll ought to be collected by comparing the trip segments with the toll gantry information. If the vehicle is passing through a gantry or toll road, the system will then calculate toll charges based on the trip segments and gantry information, generate a toll charge transaction, and notify the mobile user of the toll charge.

RFID system with barriers and key antennas

An RFID system includes a reader with antenna, a first barrier, a tag with a link antenna, a second barrier, and two key antennas connected to the tag, mechanically arranged in that order. The first barrier has two or more apertures in it to produce an interference pattern of a security signal from the reader. The security signal interference pattern passes at least partly through the second barrier. One of the key antennas is at a peak of the pattern after passing through the second barrier, and one is not. The tag includes a controller responsive to a downlink signal from the reader to transmit an uplink signal using the link antenna, but only if the downlink signal is preceded by the security signal and the security signal is received more strongly by the key antenna at the peak than by the other key antenna.

Method of and system for producing a high value animal feed additive from a stillage in an alcohol production process

A method of and a system for controlling the culture growth of high value feed organisms in a co-fermented system that produces ethanol and for the culture to consume both nonprotein and carbohydrate based products. The method and system produce products that enhance the nutritional value of the co-products. The method further provides a system to grow unique value added co-products, including a mycotoxin-free animal feed, for the monogastric and ruminant animal feed markets including aquaculture, poultry, swine, companion animals and livestock animals. The method includes the production of organic acids to enrich animal feed for enhanced animal performance with reduced antibiotic components in the feed. The method includes the production and incorporation of probiotics in the animal feed product.

Chain motor drive controller

ActiveUS7080824B1Great sensitivityTightly controlPortable liftingWinding mechanismsStationary conditionsMotor drive
An improved chain motor drive controller is provided for a chain hoist. The system employs a position encoder including a position sensor located within the casing of the chain hoist to producing encoded electrical position signals. A motor pulley is mounted on the chain motor rotary drive shaft and is coupled by a cogged belt to rotate an encoder pulley that is mounted on the same shaft as the position sensor. A mechanical coupling is thereby provided entirely within the casing of the chain hoist to transmit rotary motion from the rotary drive shaft directly to the position sensor. Also, tracking circuitry, likewise located entirely within the chain hoist casing, receives electrically encoded destination signals and compares these to signals from the position sensor. The tracking circuitry accelerates rotation of the chain motor drive shaft starting from a stationary condition and decelerates rotation of the chain motor drive shaft as the differences between the encoded position signals and the encoded destination signals approach zero.
