3921 results about "Ultraviolet irradiation" patented technology

Ultraviolet blood irradiation (simply called UBI) is a cure that time has indeed forgotten. UBI was extensively used in the 1940’s and 1950’s to treat medical conditions including pneumonia, tuberculosis and even cancer. ... Ultraviolet blood irradiation is exceedingly safe. The most common side effect is mild bruising at the insertion site of the intravenous catheter.

Air actinism chamber apparatus and method

An apparatus and method for ultraviolet irradiation of air for the purpose of removing contaminants from that air is disclosed. A U-shaped ultraviolet bulb enshrouded within a quartz tube provides enhanced contaminant destruction characteristics. By combining a plurality of those bulbs in a chamber that is of polished aluminum, and further combining aluminum filters therewith, added irradiation enhancement is achieved. Further provided are baffles or baffling proximate the ultraviolet bulbs that cause the air to go turbulent thus drawing the air closer to the ultraviolet bulb and further enhancing the contaminant destruction characteristics. Moreover disclosed is treatment of substrates with a chemical agent that facilitates the arrest of contaminants from the air onto the substrate for further irradiation of the contaminants from the bulbs. This further irradiation breaks down the arrested contaminants thus providing the substrate with a self-cleansing effect.

Nucleation and deposition of PT films using ultraviolet irradiation

A method of depositing a platinum based metal film by CVD deposition includes bubbling a non-reactive gas through an organic platinum based metal precursor to facilitate transport of precursor vapor to the chamber. The platinum based film is deposited onto a non-silicon bearing substrate in a CVD deposition chamber in the presence of ultraviolet light at a predetermined temperature and under a predetermined pressure. The film is then annealed in an oxygen atmosphere at a sufficiently low temperature to avoid oxidation of substrate. The resulting film is free of silicide and consistently smooth and has good step coverage.

Decellularized Tissue and Method of Preparing the Same

Decellularization of tissue by means of an amphipathic solvent a well-established practice. However, situations exist where the provision of enhanced decellularization is preferred. There is a demand for treating methods for coping with such situations. Thus, it is intended to provide a method for enhancing decellularization. The method comprises not only the immersing of a tissue in a solution containing an amphiphilic molecule in non-micellar form (for example, 1,2-epoxide polymer) but also performing a radical reaction (for example, treatment selected from the group consisting of exposure to gamma-ray irradiation, ultraviolet irradiation, a free radical supply source, ultrasonication, electron beam irradiation, and X-ray irradiation).

Display element, display device, and manufacturing method of display element

Each of a pair of substrates respectively comprises an electrode and a rubbed alignment film on one surface, while the other surface is provided with a polarizer. The substrates are placed so that the surfaces provided with the alignment films are opposed to each other, and the area between the substrates is filled with a medium to form a material layer. Then, a medium made of a negative-type liquid crystalline compound sing a photopolymerizable monomer and a polymerization initiator is injected into the material layer held between the substrates. Further, ultra violet irradiation is performed with the medium exhibiting a liquid crystal phase, so that the photopolymerized monomer is polymerized, thus forming a polymer chain. In this manner, obtained is a display element, that causes change in degree of optical anisotropy in response to application of electric (external) field, which display element can be driven by a lower intensity electric (external) field.

Top and bottom ultraviolet sterilization system

The present invention involves a system for irradiating articles with ultraviolet radiation that are transported through an irradiation tunnel along a longitudinal article treatment path from a tunnel entrance to a tunnel exit employing a conveyor system. Ultraviolet irradiation sources are located within the tunnel, both above and below the article treatment path. The conveyor system includes at least two different sequential segments that contact different laterally separated locations on the articles to be treated from beneath. The points of contact between the different segments of the conveyor system are offset in a lateral or transverse direction so that all locations on the articles are left unobscured from beneath at some location on the treatment path. As a consequence, all downwardly facing surfaces of the articles carried on the conveyor system are exposed to radiation from beneath. The ultraviolet irradiation sources may be configured as elongated, transverse tubes, at least some of which are located within elliptical reflectors so that some of the ultraviolet radiation is reflected onto the passing articles at angles that vary as the articles progress along the treatment path. The ends of the ultraviolet tubes are mounted within unique end supports that allow the tubes to be rotated one hundred eighty degrees by a single person manipulating just one end of each lamp tube.
