Systems and processes for producing hydrogen using bacteria are described. One detailed process for producing hydrogen uses a system for producing hydrogen as described herein, the system including a reactor. Anodophilic bacteria are disposed within the interior of the reactor and an organic material oxidizable by an oxidizing activity of the anodophilic bacteriais introduced and incubated under oxidizing reactions conditions such that electrons are produced and transferred to the anode. A power source is activated to increase a potential between the anode and the cathode, such that electrons and protons combine to produce hydrogen gas. One system for producing hydrogen includes a reaction chamber having a wall defining an interior of the reactor and an exterior of the reaction chamber. An anode is provided which is at least partially contained within the interior of the reaction chamber and a cathode is also provided which is at least partially contained within the interior of the reaction chamber. The cathode is spaced apart at a distance in the range between 0.1-100 centimeters, inclusive, from the anode. A conductive conduit for electrons is provided which is in electrical communication with the anode and the cathode and a power source for enhancing an electrical potential between the anode and cathode is included which is in electrical communication at least with the cathode. A first channel defining a passage from the exterior of the reaction chamber to the interior of the reaction chamber is also included.

The invention provides a Ti-Si molecular sieve and a synthesis method thereof. The crystal surface of the Ti-Si molecular sieve is rich in Si, and the surface Ti-Si ratio of the Ti-Si molecular sieve is higher than the bulk-phase Ti-Si ratio of the Ti-Si molecular sieve. The synthesis method of the Ti-Si molecular sieve comprises the steps as follows: mixing a Ti source, a template agent, an organic Si source, an inorganic Si source and water, removing alcohol by hydrolysis, aging, mixing an aged product with a solid Si source, performing crystallization in an airtight reaction kettle, and recycling the Ti-Si molecular sieve. The Ti-Si molecular sieve provided by the invention has higher oxidative activity, and the activity in non-effective decomposition of hydrogen peroxide in side reaction is obviously reduced.

Since the transition metal composite oxide or the transition metal-rare earth composite oxide has high oxidative activity for hydrocarbon, and the rare-earth and alkaline-earth metal oxide in the coating has good stabilization effect on the coating and the active components, therefore, the catalyst disclosed by the invention has high catalytic activity and stability for hydrocarbon compounds, the dosage of precious metal is greatly reduced, and the cost of the catalyst is lowered. Moreover, the catalyst can be used for purifying the exhaust gas of the natural gas engine, and besides, the catalyst can be also used for purifying the exhaust gas of automotive vehicles which take gasoline or liquefied petroleum gas as fuel.

The titanium silicalite molecular sieve is composed of the following elements in percentage by mass: 0.01-10% of precious metals, silicon, 0.01-10% of titanium and oxygen, wherein the I960 / I550 value is 0.5-0.9; the U480 / U330 value is 0.5-5; the N-116 / N-112 value is 0.01-0.2; and the particle size is 0.5-5 microns. The invention further provides a cyclic ketone oxidation method. The cyclic ketone oxidation method comprises the following step: contacting cyclic ketone, an oxidizing agent and a catalyst, wherein the catalyst contains the titanium silicalite molecular sieve disclosed by theinvention. Compared with the prior art, the titanium silicalite molecular sieve disclosed by the invention has the advantages that diffusion of the reactants and product is facilitated in an oxidationreaction, so that oxidative activity is fully achieved, and the selectivity is improved. For example, when applied to a reaction in which ring molecules, particularly cyclic ketone molecules, participate or are produced, the titanium silicalite molecular sieve can achieve excellent catalytic effects. Moreover, filtration and separation of the catalyst after the reaction can be further facilitated, and industrialized application is easily realized.

A process of leaching gold comprising the steps of: a) leaching copper from copper sulfide ore material that contains gold or contains silicate ore containing gold until the copper grade is reduced to 7.9 wt % or less; b) mixing the resulting material having a copper grade of 7.9 wt % or less with a gold leaching solution selected from the group consisting of a first solution containing chloride ions and ferric ions, and a second solution containing chloride ions and iron ions, the iron ions having been oxidized to trivalent ferric ions by air bubbled into the second solution; c) adjusting the pH of the gold leaching solution to 1.9 or less with stirring to leach at least gold in the material into the gold leaching solution by the oxidative activity of the ferric ions contained in the gold leaching solution, wherein the concentration of gold is reduced by selectively removing gold from part or all of the gold leaching solution during gold leaching. This process efficiently leaches at least copper and gold from a copper sulfide ore.

The invention provides a method for detection of inflammatory disease in a subject that comprises assaying a test sample of peripheral blood from the subject for a marker of DNA damage. An elevated amount of marker present in the test sample compared to control sample is indicative of inflammatory disease activity, including sub-clinical inflammation. The method can be adapted for quantitatively monitoring the efficacy of treatment of inflammatory disease in a subject. Markers of DNA damage include single- and / or double-stranded breaks in leukocytes, oxidative DNA damage in leukocytes, or a marker of nitric oxide oxidative activity (protein nitrosylation in leukocytes). The inflammatory disease can be inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease). The invention may also be used for detection of other types of inflammatory disease, such as non-immune intestinal inflammatory disease (diverticulitis, pseudomembranous colitis), autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, uveitis, vasculitis), or non-immune lung diseases (asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease, and interstitial pneumonitis). This unexpected discovery of markers of genotoxicity present in circulating leukocytes enables detection of inflammation occurring at a localized site with a relatively simple and minimally invasive assay using peripheral blood.

According to the material, ethanol gas molecules are transported on the surface and have the characteristics of rapid adsorption and desorption, so that the response and recovery speed of the sensor is increased. Compared with an ethanol sensor manufactured by In2O3 microflowers which are not compounded with SnO2 nanoparticles, the ethanol sensor disclosed by the invention has the advantages that the sensitivity is greatly improved, and the sensitivity of the ethanol sensor disclosed by the invention is about 9.5 times that of the sensitivity of the ethanol sensor manufactured by In2O3 microflowers.
