Chassis with separate thermal chamber for solid state memory

A chassis for a network storage system contains a first thermal chamber that houses conventional electronic components and a second thermal chamber that houses non-volatile solid state memory such as flash memory. A cooling system keeps the electronics in first thermal chamber below their maximum junction temperature. Meanwhile, a temperature regulating system maintains the solid state memory in the second thermal chamber within a range of a preferred operating temperature selected to extend the lifetime and / or improve the reliability of the solid state memory. Thus, the chassis provides dual zone temperature control to improve performance of the network storage system.

Method and apparatus for writing memory arrays using external source of high programming voltage

A passive element memory array preferably biases selected X-lines to an externally received VPP voltage and selected Y-lines to ground. Unselected Y-lines are preferably biased to VPP minus a first offset voltage, and unselected X-lines biased to a second offset voltage (relative to ground). The first and second offset voltages preferably are identical and have a value of about 0.5 to 2 volts. The VPP voltage depends upon the memory cell technology used, and preferably falls within the range of 5 to 20 volts. The area otherwise required for an on-chip VPP generator and saves the power that would be consumed by such a generator. In addition, the operating temperature of the integrated circuit during the programming operation decreases, which further decreases power dissipation. When discharging the memory array, the capacitance between layers is preferably discharged first, then the layers are discharged to ground.

Exhaust gas aftertreatment systems

A method is presented for estimating an amount of ammonia stored in a urea-based SCR catalyst based on a dynamic model of the catalyst. The model takes into account chemical and physical properties of the catalyst, such as catalyst volume, the number of available ammonia storage cites, adsorption and desorption dynamics, as well as sulfur poisoning, thermal aging, and different catalyst operating temperatures, and generates the estimate based on a measured or estimated amount of NOx in an exhaust gas mixture upstream of the catalyst, an amount of reductant injected into the catalyst to facilitate NOx reduction, and on a measured value of NOx in an exhaust gas mixture downstream of the catalyst. The estimated ammonia storage amount is then used to control the amount of reductant injected into the catalyst to maintain desired ammonia storage amount such that maximum NOx conversion efficiency coupled with minimum ammonia slip are achieved.
