Disclosed herein are apparatuses and devices, and methods for using and making the same, for use in performing desired activities in an automated, microscale format. Microparticles are ushered about within a microscale apparatus, to selectively move between various stations in a selected order and manner. Some embodiments include reaction, micro-weighing, micro-analysis, reagent acquisition and deposition, and incubation stations. Microparticles can individually move, or move as trains. Samples, including particulate and solid tissue samples may be manipulated and analyzed within the device. Some embodiments may engage in micro-fabrication activities or micro-deconstruction activities. Systems for controlling such apparatuses are included as well as methods of operation.

The invention provides an application method of cold field plasma discharge assisted high energy ball milled powder and a plasma assisted high energy ball milling device using the cold field plasma discharge assisted high energy ball milling method. The method comprises the following steps: utilizing dielectric barrier discharge to generate plasmas, introducing a dielectric barrier discharge electrode bar into a high-speed vibrating ball-milling tank, on one hand, requiring a solid insulating medium on the outer layer of the electrode bar to simultaneously bear high-voltage discharge and mechanical shock failure of the grinding ball, and on the other hand, requiring the high-speed vibrating ball milling device to uniformly process the powder. The method is based on the ordinary ball milling technology; the processing efficiency and the effect of the ball mill can be greatly improved by the following steps: under a non-heat-balance discharge condition of the pressure that the discharge space pressure is set to be about 102-106 Pa, introducing the discharge plasmas to input another effective energy to the processed powder, promoting the powder to be processed to be subjected to combined action of the mechanical stress effect and the heat effect of the external electric field, and further accelerating refining of the powder and promoting the alloying progress.

Method for utilizing heterogeneous catalyst to efficiently activate persulfate so as to treat organic wastewater

The invention discloses a method for utilizing a heterogeneous catalyst to efficiently activate persulfate so as to treat organic wastewater, belonging to the technical field of water pollution control. According to the method, nano Fe0, nano FeOxHy (y=2x-3 or 3y=6x-8) and FeOxHy@Fe0 (FeOxHy@Fe0, y=2x-3 or 3y=6x-8) nano composite materials are used as a heterogeneous catalyst, so that persulfate is activated to produce sulfate free radicals having strong oxidizing property, thereby removing nondegradable organic substances in wastewater. Besides, due to the characteristics of high specific area, high catalytic activity and the like, the solid-phase nano catalyst can efficiently and persistently activate the persulfate to be subjected to heterogeneous activation. The method is applicable to treatment of various organic wastewater, has the advantages of high efficiency, favorable persistence, convenient operation process and environment friendliness, and can efficiently remove toxic and harmful pollutants in the wastewater in a wider pH value range, thus providing broad prospects for treatment of toxic, harmful and nonbiodegradable organic wastewater.

Methods and compositions involving enzyme-activatable fluorophore polymer imaging agents for photodetection of specific tissues and / or human diseases and disorders are provided. In certain embodiments, the imaging agent comprises a hydrophilic polymer backbone (e.g., poly(L)lysine), a hydrophobic fluorophore, and a hydrophilic solubilizing agent. The solubilizing agent may comprise a quarternary ammonium group (e.g., a 1-methylnicotinic group) to enhance self-quenching of the fluorophore. Various methods for the generation and purification of imaging agents are also provided, including methods involving solid phase probe extraction or ion exchange purification.

A semiconductor device includes at least one thin-film transistor 116, which includes: a crystalline semiconductor layer 120 including a region 110 to be a channel region and source and drain regions 113; a gate electrode 107 for controlling the conductivity of the region 110 to be a channel region; a gate insulating film 106 arranged between the semiconductor layer 120 and the gate electrode 107; and source and drain electrodes 115 connected to the source and drain regions 113, respectively. At least one of the source and drain regions 113 contains an element to be a donor or an acceptor and a rare-gas element, but the region 110 to be a channel region does not contain the rare-gas element. The atomic weight of the rare-gas element is greater than that of the element to be a donor or an acceptor. The concentration of the rare-gas element in the at least one region as measured in the thickness direction thereof decreases continuously from the upper surface of the at least one region toward its lower surface.
