The invention relates to a medical instrument having on its proximal end a shaft with a handle consisting of two gripping members and on its distal end a tool consisting of two jaw members and in which, to open and close the tool, at least one jaw member can rotate with respect to the other jaw member around a point of rotation by means of a push-pull rod and in which the push-pull rod is connected on the proximal side with a rotatable gripping member of the handle.
