Images produced by the scanner can be used to detect Barrett's Esophagus (BE) and early (asymptomatic) esophageal cancer after the capsule is swallowed and positioned with the tether to enable the scanner in the capsule to scan a region of the esophagus above the stomach to detect a characteristic dark pink color indicative of BE. The scanner moves in a desired pattern to illuminate a portion of the inner surface. Light from the inner surface is then received by detectors in the capsule, or conveyed externally through a waveguide to external detectors. Electrical signals are applied to energize an actuator that moves the scanner. The capsule can also be used for diagnostic and / or therapeutic purposes in other lumens.

A new class of nonchromogenic substrates is disclosed which produce a substantially black, non-diffusible precipitate. This precipitate is not subject to interference from other chromogenic substrates present in the test medium. In one embodiment, the substrates are selected such that E. coli colonies present in the test medium show as substantially black, general coliforms colonies show in the test medium as a blue-violet color, Aeromonas colonies present in the test medium show as a generally red-pink color, and Salmonella colonies show as a generally teal-green color. Other microorganisms and color possibilities for detection and quantification thereof are also disclosed. An inhibitor and method for making a test medium incorporating the inhibitor are disclosed.

Formulation of peachblow glass and manufacturing technology thereof

The invention discloses a formula of pink glass and a process for preparation thereof. Mainly the components of raw materials percentage by weight of the pink glass comprise: SiO2 holding 60-75 parts, Na2O and / or K2O holding 16-20 parts, PbO holding 2.6-20 parts, SnO2 or Sb2O3 holding 0.25-1.15 parts and Au holding 0.005-0.1 parts. The pink glass is prepared by uniformly mixing various raw materials as proportionally required into mixed material to charge in a corundum crucible and smelting by placing in a furnace, and after molding and forming of the glass, immediately placing in an annealing furnace for annealing with the annealing temperature controlled within 450DEG C-500DEG C. Then the glass is lighted in ultraviolet light for 1minute to 10 hours, performing heat treatment at a temperature of 550-650DEG C till the time when the glass generates expected pink color. The invention is easy in manufacturing technique and operation process and easy in controlling color and the prepared glassware has the advantages of uniform coloring, high refractive index, beautiful color and stable quality, gold coloring agent is low in consumption, thereby largely reducing production cost, and the invention is adaptable to industrialized production.
