Relief object image generator

A device for imaging a relief object without illuminating a platen is disclosed. The device includes a single electrode electroluminescent device, which may be inorganic or organic, and a current source. The current source is coupled to the single electrode of the electroluminescent device and to the relief object to be imaged. The valleys and ridges of the relief object couple current to the electroluminescent device at different magnitudes which causes the electroluminescent device to generate light at different intensities that correspond to the ridges and valleys of the relief object. The generated light forms an image of the relief object which may be focused by optical elements onto a sensor array for capture and image processing. In another embodiment of the invention, a one-to-one sensor array is located proximate the electroluminescent device to capture the image. In an embodiment of the invention which insulates the relief object from current, the electroluminescent device is covered with a variable resistance layer and the variable resistance layer is covered with a flexible electrode. One lead from the current source is coupled to the flexible electrode and another lead is coupled to the single electrode. When a relief object is brought in contact with the flexible electrode, a localized pressures generated by the ridges of the relief object form conductive paths through the variable resistance layer which are lower in electrical resistance than those formed by pressure in the areas adjacent the valleys of the relief object. The different magnitudes of current delivered through the conductive paths to the electroluminescent device cause the electroluminescent device to generate an image of the relief object without exposing the relief object to electrical current.

Digital signal processor for audio extensions and correction of nonlinear distortions in loudspeakers

Digital filters for processing an input audio signal for extending the audio capabilities and reducing distortion of a loudspeaker. Such extension may include a general sound pressure level (SPL) extension or a more targeted low frequency (LF) extension. This may be accomplished by modifying an original frequency response of the loudspeaker to achieve a particular extension, and applying a digital linear filter based on the modified frequency response to the audio signal. A nonlinear digital filter may also be applied to the audio signal reduce nonlinear distortions of the loudspeaker. The nonlinear digital filter may be based on an inverse of an electro-mechanical model of the loudspeaker. In this manner, a loudspeaker may be driven close to its maximum theoretical power capability without increasing distortion in the loudspeaker output.

Arrangement and method for identifying and compensating nonlinear vibration in an electro-mechanical transducer

The invention relates to an arrangement and a method for converting an input signal v into an output signal p(ra) by using an electro-mechanical transducer and for reducing nonlinear total distortion pd in said output signal p(ra), whereas the nonlinear total distortion pd contains multi-modal distortion ud which are generated by nonlinear partial vibration of mechanical transducer components. An identification system generates distributed parameters Pd of a nonlinear wave model (Nd) and lumped parameters Pl of a network model (Nl) based on electrical, mechanical or acoustical state variables of transducer measured by a sensor. The nonlinear wave model distinguishes between activation modes and transfer modes, whereas the activation modes affect the transfer modes, which transfer the input signal u into the output signal p. A control system synthesizes based on the physical modeling and identified parameters Pd and Pl nonlinear distortion signals vd and vl which are supplied with the input signal v to the transducer and compensate for the distortion signals ul and ud generated by the transducer nonlinearities.
