A wound packing for use with suction is provided. The wound packing comprises a plurality of nonabsorbent synthetic polymeric fibers coupled together to form a nonabsorbent material suitable for placement in the wound of a mammal. A method for treating the wound in a mammal using the disclosed wound packing is also provided.

A system for abating undesired component(s) from a gas stream containing same, such as halocompounds, acid gases, silanes, ammonia, etc., by scrubbing of the effluent gas stream with an aqueous scrubbing medium. Halocompounds, such as fluorine, fluorides, perfluorocarbons, and chlorofluorocarbons, may be scrubbed in the presence of a reducing agent, e.g., sodium thiosulfate, ammonium hydroxide, or potassium iodide. The present invention provides a smoking article having a reduced ignition propensity by reason of one or more cross-directional bands of an adhesive applied to the paper wrapper of the smoking article. Methods and apparatus are described for reducing damage to items shipped in corrugated boxes, and for reducing damage to the boxes themselves and the packing material within them. Damage is limited by adding one or more planar damped panels to a box for redistributing kinetic energy absorbed by the box when it is subjected to characteristic shipping shock and vibration. Efficient coupling of redistributed kinetic energy to resilient packing material within a box allows the use of relatively less resilient padding surrounding shipped items, thus allowing use of a relatively smaller box to obtain an acceptable level of protection. Formulation and shaping manufacturing technology ofthe diatomite composition radically solve the problems that a common diatomite product has long producing and shaping period and low manufacturing efficiency; and the obtained product has the advantages of good mechanical property, light weight and low formaldehyde release, and has good functional properties such as flame retarding, water proofing, bacteria resistance and the like. The diatomite composition is applied to be manufactured into plates and profiles, can replace wood and artificial boards, and is used for products such as indoor and outdoor ornaments, office and household furniture, furniture components, acoustics, internal ornaments of vehicles, wall panels, security doors, wall boards, partition wall boards, packing materials, bed boards, floor, solid door frames, shutters, and the like.

A device and method for stabilizing a drug, particularly a chiral drug or the active enantiomer(s) thereof, in a carrier composition of a transdermal delivery system prior to the systems use by providing a product packaging system to prevent or control degradation reactions that can result from certain packaging materials and moisture contamination, while at the same time providing a child-resistant wrapping for the transdermal system.

The invention is concerned with a process of manufacturing filled drinking cups closed by cover foil blanks heat-sealed thereto and formed by deep-drawing from a thermoplastic packing material strip, comprising a beaded peripheral flange, with the cover foil blanks being provided with a pull flap. According to the invention the method includes the following steps: cyclically feeding the packing material strip loaded with the deep-drawn and filled cups underneath a cover foil blank transfer means; taking up the cover foil blanks from the transfer means, with the pull flaps, during transfer of the cover foil blanks to the packing material strip, being positioned in a direction substantially vertical to the extension plane of the blanks, and the blanks with the upright pull flaps above the cup openings being applied to the packing material strip; sealing the margins of the cover foil blanks to the unmolded areas of the packing material strip about the cup openings; bending the upright flaps during the advance movement of the packing material strip; punching the cups from the packing material strip along a punching contour line extending in parallel to and at a space from the circumferential contour of the cover foil blanks; and transferring the punched cups into a beading means wherein the peripheral flange portion projecting relative to the cover foil blanks is downwardly beaded.

Moreover, the performance of different packaging materials, e.g., in terms of speed or cost, may be compared for a particular load through simulation of wrap operations based upon dimensions of the load and a desired load containment force requirement for the load.

The apparatus and methods of the present invention are of use for the production of emulsion-based microparticles containing a biological or chemical agent. In particular, the apparatus provides a vessel; packing material situated inside such vessel and may further provide material capable of insertion into both ends of said vessel for enclosure of the packing material. In a particular embodiment, the apparatus is a packed bed apparatus. The methods include production of emulsion based microparticles containing a biological or chemical agent. The usefulness of the present invention is that the apparatus and methods of the present invention provide for a low-shear, non-turbulent, production of emulsion-based microparticles that provides a narrow, reproducible, particle size distribution, capable of use with both large and small volumes that is capable of being conveniently scaled up while providing predictable emulsion properties.

Blister cards with receiving aperture(s) 34 are slid between guides and cylinders, and pushed inward until detent(s) 29 engage aperture(s) 34. Appurtenant(s) 48 adjacent to the detent(s) urge the blister card to engage the detent(s) at the card's receiving aperture. Pressing on release 20 disengages the card and detent by warping the card to move the aperture away from the detent so that the card may be slid through the open end of the sleeve. Reverse pressure easily slides the blister card back into the containment element without manipulation of parts.

The present invention relates to a high-power LED array. The high-power LED array has a printed circuit board (PCB), anodes, cathodes, high-power LED dies, packing materials, and lenses. The PCB has cavities arranged in an array. One anode and one cathode are located in each cavity. The anode and the cathode are correspondingly connected to the anode and cathode in the neighboring cavities. At least one high-power LED die is placed in the cavity and connected to the anode and the cathode in series or in parallel. The cavity is filled with packing material to secure the high-power LED die. Lenses are placed on the cavities to focus light emitted by the high-power LED die.
