Disclosed is a method of fabricating a molded structure including both micro lenses and metallic pins. The method comprises the steps of providing a mold apparatus having a set of first cavities and a set of second cavities, depositing a first material in the first cavities to form a set of metallic pins, and depositing a second material in the second cavities to form a set of micro lenses. The formed molded structure comprises a substrate, a set of molded microlenses on said substrate, and a set of molded metallic pins on that same substrate. The metallic pins may be formed as alignment pins or as electrical connectors. The invention enables the micro lenses and metallic pins to be manufactured by way of molding on a common substrate for the first time.

The device has a first lower substantially flat body, which has in its upper part a flexible post with a narrowed or weakened portion and a second upper body with the passage for receiving and securing said post. The invention relates to a ring binder mechanism comprising a housing (10) for receiving two carrier rails (20), wherein the carrier rails are positioned adjacent one another with at least a portion of their inner longitudinal edges (23) facing each other to form a linkage axis (22) and at least a portion of their outer longitudinal edges (24) engaging the housing (10). The carrier rails (20) have at least two half-rings (16) rigidly connected with the carrier rails, which together form a ring (14). The carrier rails (20) are limitedly pivotable relative to each other about the linkage axis (22), taking along the half-rings (16), between an open position and a closed position. A locking rod (31) having at least one locking element (32) is movable parallel to the linkage axis (22) relative to the housing (10) and the carrier rails (20) via an actuating element (18). The locking rod is provided adjacent the bottom or exterior surface of the carrier rails (i.e. the surface facing away from the housing). The locking element (32) engages a portion of the carrier rails and blocks the pivot path of the carrier rails (20) in the closed position. Abutments or bearings are provided on the carrier rails (20) or on the housing flanks (28) for receiving locking forces, against which the locking element (32) is supported in the closed position.

A solar panel assembly attachment apparatus is provided including a strut defining a generally U-shaped channel; an electrically conductive grounding clip; and a panel retainer. Upon insertion of the panel retainer into a housing receptacle of the clip, a clip slot and a panel body slot are aligned to allow passage of the portion of the solar panel frame. Advancing the solar panel frame through the aligned clip slot and panel body slot compresses a spring to secure the solar panel frame while barbs electrically connect and provide a ground to the solar panel frame.

An LED based omni-directional light engine includes a toroidal lens coupled to a controller circuit board and two or more evenly spaced LEDs mounted to the controller circuit board. The toroidal lens includes an inner surface coated with a layer of reflection materials, an outer surface, and a flat base surface. The controller circuit board is electrically coupled to a power source. The LEDs are located immediately under the flat base surface. The inner surface substantially reflects light beams emitted from the LEDs to the outer surface which refracts the beams to the omni-directions.

The subject invention provides a thrust bearing assembly having only three thrust flanges in total. One portion of the thrust bearing assembly comprises a main bearing having an arcuate bearing shell with a concave inner surface and a convex outer surface. A thrust washer having hydrodynamic features abuts one of the edges of the main bearing and extends radially outwardly from the outer surface thereof forming a thrust surface. The other of the edges of the main bearing is free of a flange. The free edge of the main bearing is preferably spaced inward from other thrust surfaces and the edge has a substantially narrower width than the other thrust surfaces. In either configuration, the thrust flange or thrust washer that is free of hydrodynamic features is opposite the thrust washer having hydrodynamic features of the main bearing.

An LED light source has a housing having a base. A hollow core projects from the base and is arrayed about a longitudinal axis. A printed circuit board is positioned in the base at one end of the hollow core and has a plurality of LEDs operatively fixed thereto about the center thereof. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the hollow core is tubular and the printed circuit board is circular. A light guide with a body that, in a preferred embodiment, is cup-shaped as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4a, has a given wall thickness “T”. The light guide is positioned in the hollow core and has a first end in operative relation with the plurality of LEDs and a second end projecting beyond the hollow core. The thickness “T” is at least large enough to encompass the emitting area of the LEDs that are employed with it.
