Solid-state imaging apparatus and signal processing method for transforming image signals output from a honeycomb arrangement to high quality video signals

A solid-state imaging apparatus includes an image pick-up section in which photosensitive devices are arranged in, e.g., a honeycomb G square lattice, RB full-checker pattern due to shifted pixels. Regions void of the photosensitive devices are assumed to be virtual photosensitive devices. A signal processing section generates data for the virtual photosensitive devices by using the data of surrounding photosensitive devices while attaching importance to accurate color reproduction and horizontal and / or vertical resolution. As a result, the number of pixel data are increased in a square lattice arrangement. Therefore, high quality image signals are readily achievable with a smaller number of photosensitive devices than conventional with a conventional apparatus. Interpolation can be executed with the high quality signals to the limit of resolution with an adequate circuit scale. The honeycomb arrangement guarantees the required size of the individual pixel and thereby the sensitivity of the entire apparatus while increasing yield on a production line. False colors particular to a single photosensitive portion can be reduced by, e.g., uniform interpolation. Particularly, when a digital camera is constructed by using an imaging apparatus including optics operable with a silver halide sensitive type of film, false colors can be reduced without resorting to an optical low pass filter.

Patterning method and integrated circuit structure

A patterning method is provided. First, a mask layer and a plurality of first transfer patterns are sequentially formed on a target layer. Thereafter, a plurality of second patterns is formed in the gaps between the first transfer patterns. Afterwards, a plurality of third transfer patterns is formed, wherein each of the third transfer patterns is in a gap between a first transfer pattern and a second transfer pattern adjacent to the first transfer pattern. A portion of the mask layer is then removed, using the first transfer patterns, the second transfer patterns and third transfer patterns as a mask, so as to form a patterned mask layer. Further, a portion of the target layer is removed using the patterned mask layer as a mask.

Compact dual-band resonator using anisotropic metamaterial

A dual-band resonator with compact size, such as a resonant type dual-band antenna, which uses an anisotropic metamaterial is described. The artificial anisotropic medium is implemented by employing a composite right / left-handed transmission line. The dispersion relation and the antenna physical size only depend on the composition of the unit cell and the number of cells used. By engineering the characteristics of the unit cells to be different in two orthogonal directions, the corresponding propagation constants can be controlled, thus enabling dual-band antenna resonances. In addition, the antenna dimensions can be markedly minimized by maximally reducing the unit cell size. A dual-band antenna is also described which is designed for operation at frequencies for PCS / Bluetooth applications, and which has a physical size of 1 / 18λ0× 1 / 18λ0× 1 / 19λ0, where λ0 is the free space wavelength at 2.37 GHz.
