Method and system for enhancing reliability of communication with electronic messages

A system for enhancing the reliability of communicating with electronic messages. The system sends an electronic message to designated recipients, and then automatically helps ensure that each message has been successfully delivered within a specified period of time and that each message has been reviewed within a specified period of time. In addition, the system automatically performs specified activities after review of a message takes place. The sender of an electronic message initiates reliability-enhanced messaging by specifying message delivery information and message review information. The sender can specify that if delivery or review notifications are not received within specified periods of time, the message will be resent to the recipient or a reminder message will be sent to the recipient or to another user. The message information can include various frequency and duration options, such as resending a message only once or resending it every 2 hours for a week. Message information can also specify to resend the message with a higher transmission priority or review urgency so that its delivery and review is more likely, or could specify to use a different recipient system for the recipient (e.g., to a second email address if a first address fails, or to a pager if a cellular phone is not available). Each recipient of a message can have individualized message delivery information. The system tracks whether each message has been delivered to each recipient, and uses the message delivery information to resend the messages whose delivery and review was not confirmed.

Energy transferring system and method thereof

An energy transferring system including a source-side resonator, an intermediate resonant module, and a device-side resonator is provided. The three resonators substantially have the same resonant frequency for generating resonance. The energy on the source-side resonator is coupled to the intermediate resonant module, such that non-radiative energy transfer is performed between the source-side resonator and the intermediate resonant module. The energy coupled to the intermediate resonant module is further coupled to the device-side resonator, such that non-radiative energy transfer is performed between the intermediate resonant module and the device-side resonator to achieve energy transfer between the source-side resonator and the device-side resonator. The coupling coefficient between the intermediate resonant module and its two adjacent resonators is larger than the coupling coefficient between the source-side resonator and the device-side resonator. The invention has the advantages of high transmission efficiency, small volume, low cost.

LDPC concatenation rules for IEEE 802.11n system with packets length specified in OFDM symbols

A method of concatenation for LDPC encoding in an OFDM wireless system selects codewords based on the data packet payload size, wherein the payload size is the number of transmitted information bits in octets. For low transmission rates, shortening and puncturing across all codewords within the packet is applied to minimize OFDM symbol padding. Method and device for improving the transmission efficiency in a communication system with a layered protocol stack

In a method for improving the transmission efficiency in a communication system with a layered protocol stack, data packets are processed on an upper protocol layer. Data packets are forwarded to a lower protocol layer for transmission and the transmission is performed with variable channel access delays. The upper protocol layer is notified by the lower protocol layer when a transmission is started to allow a synchronization of timers in the upper protocol layer. If a layer performs a scheduling of data packets for the transmission, a rescheduling is performed alternatively or in addition during a channel access delay. Devices and software programs embodying the invention are also described.

Distributed network data storage system and method

The present invention is a system and method for distributed, highly scalable, wide area peer-to-peer network data storage. The functionally equivalent servers in the system are divided into groups. Each server maintains a dynamic list which is polled to determine the availability of the closest neighbor servers. Each server is switched between the groups of servers to optimize network connectivity parameters. Data and directory files are divided into a plurality of pieces which are stored on different servers. Files are uniformly and independently named, utilizing a tree with a common root, logical pathways, and unique file identifiers. When a server receives a client request for file system access, the plurality of file pieces are collected and sent to the client server from the neighbor servers simultaneously in order to optimize bandwidth. Servers with maximum throughput capacity are utilized for highest transmission speed and reduced processing time.

Apparatus and method for focusing and selecting ions and charged particles at or near atmospheric pressure

The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for focusing, separating, and detecting gas-phase ions using the principles of quadrupole fields, substantially at or near atmospheric pressure. Ions are entrained in a concentric flow of gas and travel through a high-transmission element into a RF / DC quadrupole, through a second high-transmission element, and then impact on an ion detector, such as a faraday plate; or through an aperture with subsequent identification by a mass spectrometer. Ions with stable trajectories pass through the RF / DC quadrupole while ions with unstable trajectories drift off-axis collide with the rods and are lost. Embodiments of this invention are devices and methods for focusing, separating and detecting gas-phase ions without the need for a vacuum chamber when coupled to atmospheric ionization sources.

High transmission power using shared bluetooth and wireless local area network front end module

A novel and useful system for providing high transmission power using a shared Bluetooth and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) front end module (FEM). A single power amplifier in the front end module is shared between the WLAN and Bluetooth radio cores, thus providing a high power transmission option (Bluetooth class 1) for the Bluetooth core. Photovoltaic device including front electrode having titanium oxide inclusive layer with high refractive index

Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to an electrode (e.g., front electrode) for use in a photovoltaic device or the like. In certain example embodiments, a transparent conductive oxide (TCO) of the front electrode for use in a photovoltaic device is of or includes titanium oxide doped with one or more of Nb, Zn and / or Al. Additional layers may also be provided in the front electrode in certain example embodiments. It has been found that the use of transparent conductive TiOx(:Nb) or TiZnOx(:Al and / or Nb), in a front electrode of a photovoltaic device, is advantageous in that such materials have a high refractive index (n) and have a higher transparency than conventional titanium suboxide (TiOx). Thus, the use of such materials in the context of a front electrode of a photovoltaic device reduces light reflection due to the high refractive index, and increases transmission into the active semiconductor film due to the higher transmission characteristics thereof, thereby improving the efficiency of the device.

Method of making high performance optical edge and notch filters and resulting products

High performance optical edge and notch filters and methods of making the same are disclosed. The multi-layer, thin-film optical edge filters have an edge steepness greater than about 0.8% as measured by dividing (a) the edge width from the 50% transmission wavelength to the optical density 6 (“OD6”) wavelength by (b) the 50% transmission wavelength. The optical edge filters also have an average transmission above about 95%. The notch filters exhibit a blocking of OD>6, very high transmission (>90%) outside the notch(es), and a narrow notch bandwidth comparable to that of holographic notch filters.
