Systems and methods for wireless power transfer

Systems and methods for wireless power transfer are disclosed. Primary windings generate magnetic fields which are inductively coupled to secondary windings to transfer power in a wireless manner. One embodiment includes a plurality of tiles of magnetic cores and windings for the primary windings. The tiles can be arranged in a magnetic segment with windings of tiles being orthogonal with respect to windings of adjacent tiles. For example, a winding of a first tile can be horizontal, and windings of adjacent tiles can be vertical. One embodiment further groups these magnetic segments into larger entities, wherein each magnetic segment can be independently activated. One embodiment includes a magnetic amplifier or an electronic device for secondary side control of power. This permits multiple devices to be powered or charged to be able to regulate power or charging independently from one another.

Device for treatment of tissue adjacent a bodily conduit by thermocompression

A method and apparatus of treating tissue adjacent to a bodily conduit using thermotherapy, while preventing obstructions of the bodily conduit due to edema employs the circulation of warmed fluid to maintain the temperature of the bodily conduit walls and compresses the tissue to be treated to increase the effectiveness of the irradiated heat. An energy-emitting source containing catheter is inserted in a bodily conduit and is positioned in a region of the tissue to be treated so that the energy-emitting source radiates energy to the tissue to be treated. Fluid warmed to over 30° C. is circulated into and through the catheter to warm walls of the bodily conduit adjacent the catheter. The circulated fluid inflates a balloon to a pressure to compress the tissue to be treated. The combination of warmed fluid over 30° C. being circulated adjacent the bodily conduit to maintain the warmth in its walls and the compression of the tissue to be treated enables a natural stent to be formed that remains after the catheter and compression balloon is removed.

The drive unit includes a drive unit case, the electric motor housed within the case, and the inverter fixed to the case. A coolant flow passage is provided between the drive unit case and the inverter. The inverter is fixed to the drive unit case through a panel wall, and a partition divides the coolant flow passage into chambers which are coextensive in parallel. As a result, the coolant which flows through the coolant flow passage acts as a two-stage heat shield, barring the heat generated by the electric motor from being transmitted to the inverter.

Pressure wave generator and production method therefor

A pressure wave generator is provided, which has excellent output stability over time. This pressure wave generator comprises a substrate, a heat generating layer, and a heat insulating layer formed between the substrate and the heat generating layer. A pressure wave is generated in a surrounding medium (air) by a change in temperature of the heat generating layer, which is caused upon energization of the heat generating layer. The heat insulating layer comprises a porous layer and a barrier layer formed between the porous layer and the heat generating layer to prevent diffusion of reactive substances such as oxygen and moisture in the air and impurities into the porous layer. By the formation of the barrier layer, it is possible to prevent a reduction in output of the pressure wave generator caused by a change over time of the porous layer.

Motor vehicle dehumidifier with drying agent and drying agent regenerative control

A motor vehicle dehumidifier, including a dehumidifying drying agent, that can provide a required dehumidifying capacity with a reduced overall quantity of drying agent compared to conventional drying agent-based dehumidifiers. In the present invention, a heat exchanger is disposed on an upstream side of a drying agent unit, and heat is exchanged in the heat exchanger between inside air to be dehumidified and low-temperature outside air used to cool the inside air. The air cooled by the heat exchanger flows into the drying agent unit and is dehumidified. Because the air has an increased relative humidity as a result of being cooled, the amount of water adsorbed from it per unit of drying agent is increased, as the water adsorption characteristic of the drying agent is greatly influenced by the relative humidity of the air passing over it, and is markedly improved by an increase in the relative humidity of that air.
