A method and apparatus for magnetically levitating and further steering of an intraluminal device, such as a swallowable microelectronic capsule, for monitoring bodily functions is provided. The method comprises diamagnetically-stabilized levitation, followed by dynamic modification of the external magnetic field producing the said levitation, so that the levitating intraluminal device can be steered in desired direction. The said intraluminal device contains appropriate sensors and reports in real time the forces and pressures exerted on it, as well as its position, so that the levitation and the steering can be dynamically adjusted using appropriate dynamic control of external magnetic devices such as solenoids.

An active CMOS biosensor chip for fluorescent-based detection is provided that enables time-gated, time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. In one embodiment, analytes are loaded with fluorophores that are bound to probe molecules immobilized on the surface of the chip. Photodiodes and other circuitry in the chip are used to measure the fluorescent intensity of the fluorophore at different times. These measurements are then averaged to generate a representation of the transient fluorescent decay response unique to the fluorophores. In addition to its low-cost, compact form, the biosensor chip provides capabilities beyond those of macroscopic instrumentation by enabling time-gated operation for background rejection, easing requirements on optical filters, and by characterizing fluorescence lifetime, allowing for a more detailed characterization of fluorophore labels and their environment. The biosensor chip can be used for a variety of applications including biological, medical, in-the-field applications, and fluorescent lifetime imaging applications.

Method and driver for determining drive values for driving a lighting device

The present invention relates to a method for determining drive values for driving a lighting device at a desired brightness and color. The method comprising the steps of determining a first luminous flux weight ratio based on the desired color and a first drive current for driving each of the differently colored LEDs, determining a first luminous flux for each of the differently colored LEDs based on the desired brightness and the first luminous flux weight ratio, comparing, for each of the differently colored LEDs, the first luminous flux with a nominal luminous flux for a plurality of different drive currents, selecting, for each of the differently colored LEDs, a preferred drive current that at least can produce the first luminous flux, determining a second luminous flux weight ratio based on the desired color and the selected drive currents for each of the differently colored LEDs, determining a second luminous flux for each of the differently colored LEDs based on the desired brightness and the second luminous flux weight ratio, and determining a duty cycle for each of the differently colored LEDs at the selected drive currents, wherein the selected currents at the determined duty cycles produces the second luminous flux for each of the differently colored LEDs. The present invention provides for the possibility to limit the number of necessary computational steps for determining preferred drive currents. Furthermore, an increase in number of current level and / or differently colored LEDs would only slightly increase the computational cost.

Casting method of movable and fixed vortex casting pieces of compressor

The invention provides a casting method of movable and fixed vortex casting pieces of a compressor, aiming at solving the technical problem that the movable and fixed vortex casting pieces generate loosing and shrinkage at the hot joint in the casting process. The casting method comprises the following steps: embedding a conformal cold iron into the hot joint of the casting piece at the corresponding position of a core box, then carrying out sand shooting and manufacturing a sand core with the conformal cold iron; and placing the sand core with the conformal cold iron into a casting mold, combining a dead head feeding technique and casting the casting piece. The shape of the conformal cold iron is manufactured into a vortex shape or an arc shape according to the shapes of a vortex sand core teeth and the position of the hot joint of the vortex casting piece. One end of the conformal cold iron is provided with a columnar positioning lag; and the core box is provided with a positioning hole matched with the positioning lag. The sand core is internally provided with the conformal cold iron which is directly applied on the hot joint, thus having fast cooling speed and leading the hot joint position to obtain maximum subcooled temperature in the vortex casting piece. The casting method can effectively solve the defects of loosing and shrinkage of the root part of the vortex teeth.
