Processing Encoded Real-Time Data

Processing packets of encoded real-time data to perform a gradual fade-out and fade-in of a signal, for example upon detecting a packet loss period. Upon detecting the packet loss period, a last correctly received packet is repeated with gradually increased attenuation, to solely fade out for example an audible output but similarly, after the end of a packet loss period the reappearing can be slowly faded in by attenuating the first or a number of first data packets after the packet loss period. The attenuation operation can be performed at low complexity by decrementing segment numbers of samples of data packets such as in a lookup operation.

Method for simultaneous hue phase-shifting and system for 3-d surface profilometry using the same

The present invention provides a method for simultaneous hue phase-shifting and a system for 3-D surface profilometry, wherein a single structured-light fringe pattern with encoded multiple trapezoidal color fringes is projected on an object so as to obtain a color image having deformed fringe patterns and then a hue information extracted from a HSI color model associated with the fringe pattern is transformed into a hue phase-shifting information for restructuring the 3-D surface profile of the object. Since the color structured light is composed of a plurality of colorful light having phase shifts with each other in spatial domain, the single structured-light pattern comprises multiple hue phase-shifting information so that the phase shifting and unwrapping can be performed by one-shot 3-D surface reconstruction process without needs of traditional conventional phase wrapping and Euler's transformation procedures such that the efficiency of phase shifting and 3-D surface measurement can be improved.

Detection of Analytes in aqueous environments

The invention relates to indicator molecules for detecting the presence or concentration of an analyte in a medium, such as a liquid, and to methods for achieving such detection. More particularly, the invention relates to copolymer macromolecules containing relatively hydrophobic indicator component monomers, and hydrophilic monomers, such that the macromolecule is capable of use in an aqueous environment.

High impedance structures for multifrequency antennas and waveguides

A multi layered high impedance structure presents a high impedance to multiple frequency signals, with a different frequency for each layer. Each layer comprises a dielectric substrate, and an array of radiating elements such as parallel conductive strips or conductive patches on the substrate's top surface, with a conductive layer on the bottom surface of the bottommost layer. The radiating elements of succeeding layers are vertically aligned with conductive vias extending through the substrates to connect the radiating elements to the ground plane. Each layer presents as a series of parallel resonant L-C circuits to an E field at a particular signal frequency, resulting in a high impedance surface at that frequency. The new structure can be used as the substrate for a microstrip patch antenna to provide an optimal electrical distance between the resonator and backplane at multiple frequencies. It can also be used in waveguides that transmit multiple signal frequencies signals in one polarization or that are cross-polarized. As a waveguide it maintains a near-uniform density E and H fields, resulting in near uniform signal power density across the waveguide's cross-section.

Apparatus and method for synchronously stimulating a plurality of fluid jets

InactiveUS20070126799A1Accurate phase lockingSimple designPrintingElectricityEngineering
A common electrohydrodynamic stimulation electrode, in response to an electrical signal, synchronously stimulates all members of a group of fluid jets emitted from corresponding nozzle channels to form a corresponding plurality of continuous streams of drops. The common electrohydrodynamic stimulation electrode includes an electrical contact operable to transmit the electrical signal to each member of the nozzle channels via a contiguous electrically conductive portion. The contiguous electrically conductive portion forms a permanently electrically conductive path between and forms a portion of each nozzle channel. Synchronous stimulation of each of the fluid jets facilitates accurate phase locking of print data dependent charging of the drop streams.
