A dye laser is a laser which uses an organic dye as the lasing medium, usually as a liquid solution. Compared to gases and most solid state lasing media, a dye can usually be used for a much wider range of wavelengths, often spanning 50 to 100 nanometers or more. The wide bandwidth makes them particularly suitable for tunable lasers and pulsed lasers. The dye rhodamine 6G, for example, can be tuned from 635 nm (orangish-red) to 560 nm (greenish-yellow), and produce pulses as short as 16 femtoseconds. Moreover, the dye can be replaced by another type in order to generate an even broader range of wavelengths with the same laser, from the near-infrared to the near-ultraviolet, although this usually requires replacing other optical components in the laser as well, such as dielectric mirrors or pump lasers.

A device for irradiating tissue includes a fluorescent element for receiving pump radiation and responsively emitting radiation having different spectral characteristics than the pump radiation. A redirector receives emitted radiation promulgated in a direction away from a tissue target and redirects the radiation toward the target. The pump radiation may be supplied, for example, by a flashlamp or frequency-doubled neodymium-doped laser. Use of the device provides an inexpensive and effective alternative to conventional dye laser-based systems for various medical therapies, including treatment of vascular and pigmented lesions, tattoo and hair removal, and photodynamic therapy (PDT).

Hybrid photonic crystal fiber, and method for manufacturing same

The present invention relates to a hybrid photonic crystal fiber, into the core of which a functional material is injected. The hybrid photonic crystal fiber of the present invention comprises: a central hole having a diameter of 4 to 15 μm extending in the longitudinal direction; an inner cladding also formed in the longitudinal direction outside the central hole, having a hexagonal arrangement of air holes, each of which has a diameter of 2 to 5 μm and a lattice constant of 4.5 to 7 μm; an annular outer cladding surrounding the outer surface of the inner cladding; and a core formed by filling a functional material in some of the air holes including the central hole. According to the present invention, changes in the state, i.e. the liquid, liquid-crystal, or biofluid states, of the functional material that fills the core that has a variety of shapes may enable the modulation of light intensity, wavelength, phase, and polarization, and thus enable various photonic networks to be produced. The hybrid photonic crystal fiber of the present invention may serve as various optical sensors capable of sensing changes in refractive index caused by external stresses such as temperature and pressure. The hybrid photonic crystal fiber of the present invention may be used as a light source for a fluorescent dye laser for a visible ray zone using fluorescent dye, or for an ultra-wideband laser of 700 nm or higher using high nonlinear liquid.

Photodynamic therapy with spatially resolved dual spectroscopic monitoring

An instrument for photodynamic therapy applies treatment light from a dye laser, white light, and ultraviolet fluorescence excitation light from an LED onto a lesion and surrounding areas in a time-multiplexed manner. The reflected white light is analyzed in a spectrometer to determine a correction for the dynamic optical spectral properties of the patient's tissue. Light emitted by fluorescence from the lesion and the surrounding areas is analyzed in another spectrometer, and the results are corrected in a computer, using the correction. An optical switch has been developed for the instrument, using a bistable solenoid and a sled.

A microfluidic channel configured to accept a fluidic dye is defined in the elastomer. If the DFWM spectral technology needs to be practical, the stability problem of the light path is solved first. The invention relates to a mixed power storage system of laser wireless power transmission and flywheel energy storage. The mixed power storage system comprises an energy transmitting terminal and an energy receiving terminal, wherein the energy transmitting terminal comprises an energy conversion device converting regeneration energy into electric energy, a laser drive circuit and a laser. The energy conversion device generates electric energy, the laser drive circuit drives the laser to output laser light, and the laser is a tunable dye laser. A laser beam expanding apparatus is arranged between the energy transmitting terminal and the energy receiving terminal according to the distance between the two, shapes laser light output by the laser, and expands output light spots which can be covered uniformly on a solar battery array (2) on the receiving terminal. The energy receiving terminal comprises a solar battery array (1) and a flywheel energy storage module. The mixed power storage system is highly efficient.

Wavelength correction control system for dye laser

The invention provides a wavelength correction control system for a dye laser. The system comprises the dye laser, a sample pool, a signal detection unit and a signal processing unit, wherein laser emitted by the dye laser is subjected to frequency multiplication by a beta-Ba2O4 crystal and then output, the laser output after frequency multiplication is split by a beam splitter and then enters the sample pool through an entrance window; the signal detection unit comprises a fluorescence collection lens of a narrowband filter and is used for filtering interference and focusing a fluorescence signal excited by laser, the fluorescence signal is acquired by a photomultiplier, and a laser energy signal is monitored by a photodiode. A signal acquisition card of the signal processing unit receives the signals acquired by the photomultiplier and the photodiode and transmits the signals to a computer, and the computer controls gratings of the dye laser and parameters of the beta-Ba2O4 crystal through a USB, so that the laser output wavelength is regulated. With the adoption of the wavelength correction control system, the wavelength of the dye laser on a to-be-detected substance excitation line can be accurately located, and the location precision is as high as 0.1 pm.
