The method comprises the steps of acquiring tail gas parameters of motor vehicle tail gas emission according to a set frequency, wherein the tail gas parameters comprise nitrogen oxide concentration, carbon monoxide concentration, black smoke concentration, light absorption coefficient and opaque degree; in a set period, taking respective average values of the tail gas parameters, and according to a set weight, carrying out weighted calculation on all the tail gas parameters to obtain a weighted result; and if the average value of any tail gas parameter or the weighting result is not within the set standard value range, judging that the current tail gas emission exceeds the standard. According to the embodiment, motor vehicle tail gas emission can be qualitatively and quantitatively detected, and the effectiveness of motor vehicle tail gas emission detection is improved.
