Color-changeable pixels of an optical interference display panel

A distribution density of supports and the spacing therebetween are adjusted to improve a restorability of a light-reflection electrode of a color-changeable pixel. When the spacing between the supports is decreased or the distribution density thereof is increased, a tension per unit area of the light-reflection electrode is raised. If an external force is applied to the light-reflection electrode, the tension caused by the supports will counteract the force and allow the light-reflection electrode to successfully return to the original state after the external force is removed.

Congestion avoidance for threads in servers

A method, system, and computer program product for improving the performance, reliability, and recoverability of a computer running a multi-threaded server application. The described techniques enable synchronization requirements to be minimized. A policy is enforced which limits the number of worker threads currently assigned to processing connections to a particular host. Thus if a host fails, some number of worker threads continue to actively service connections to other hosts. The policy may use static or dynamic limits. A single limit may pertain to all hosts, or host-specific limits may be used.

A nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) sample tube is made of a polymeric material instead of glass. Such tubes are thinner than glass tubes, thus increasing the internal volume and sample size. Such tubes are also more closely matched to the magnetic susceptibility of specific solvents. Such tubes have greater mechanical stability, thus leading to less tube breakage during NMR processing. Such tubes also lend themselves to various concentric tubal arrangements which permit separation and mixing of samples to minimize subtraction artifacts in interacting systems.

Cycle-based restoration in mesh networks utilizing bandwidth and flow considerations

A two step method for determining restoration cycles for a mesh network includes generating a set of possible restoration cycles, and selecting a subset of low-cost restoration cycles on the network. The cost of a restoration cycle may be based, in part, on the availability of capacity on the link to restore traffic with and / or without interference, and network policy. Enabling the restoration cycles to be determined based on the bandwidth capacity of the restoring link, the flows carried by the other link, and other network policy considerations enables embodiments of the invention to account for traffic class, priority, and other traffic considerations when selecting restoration cycles on the network. Identifying arcs on the network with relatively high cost restoration cycles allows portions of the network to be targeted for increased capacity.
