HIGH STRENGTH, HIGH STRESS CORROSION CRACKING RESISTANT AND CASTABLE Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-Zr ALLOY FOR SHAPE CAST PRODUCTS

InactiveUS20080066833A1Acceptable performanceProvide level of strength and corrosion performanceAluminiumHigh stress
The present invention provides an Al—Zn—Mg—Cu casting alloy that provides high strength for automotive and aerospace applications and optimized stress corrosion cracking resistance in highly corrosive and tensile environments. The inventive alloy composition includes about 3.5 wt. % to about 5.5 wt. % Zn; about 1.0 wt. % to about 3.0 wt. % Mg; about 0.5 wt. % to about 1.2 wt. % Cu; less than about 1.0 wt. % Si; less than about 0.30 wt. % Mn; less than about 0.30 wt. % Fe; and a balance of Al and incidental impurities.

Transgenic plants containing ligninase and cellulase which degrade lignin and cellulose to fermentable sugars

The present invention provides transgenic plants which after harvest degrade the lignin and cellulose therein to fermentable sugars which can further be fermented to ethanol or other products. In particular, the transgenic plants comprise ligninase and cellulase genes from microbes operably linked to a DNA encoding a signal peptide which targets the fusion polypeptide produced therefrom to an organelle of the plant, in particular the chloroplasts. When the transgenic plants are harvested, the plants are ground to release the ligninase and cellulase which then degrade the lignin and cellulose of the transgenic plants to produce the fermentable sugars.

Transferable index tabs

A computer printer compatible index tabs assembly that includes a carrier sheet recognizable by any of a wide variety of computer compatible printing devices. The carrier sheet includes a plurality of self-adhesively secured tabs each formed from a resilient, durable thin film. The self-adhesive is formulated to either permanently or releasably adhere to a peripheral edge of a sheet of material which is to be tagged, labeled or indexed. After printing, the index tab is transferred from the carrier sheet and positioned with the self-adhesive securing the index tab to the sheet of material and with the indicia projecting outwardly from the edge for convenient display.

Sealed pipe joint

In a pipe joint where two pipe sections (14, 16) have threadably engaged end portions (17, 18), joint ends (32, 34) are substantially sealed to each other by a sealing surface (40, 50) on one pipe section that substantially abuts a sealing surface (42, 52) on the other pipe section. In one joint, a ring-shaped cutout (121, FIG. 7) is formed in a first pipe section and a ring-shaped spacer (120) is located in the cutout. The spacer is chosen from several that have slightly different lengths so the spacer end contacts the corresponding sealing surface (130). In a pipe string used to carry corrosive fluid, the inner surface (44) of adjacent pipe sections is covered with a corrosion resistant coating (70, 72). Where the sealing surface is connected to a rounded corner (82, 84), the coating extends to and along the sealing surfaces (40, 42). Where there are sharp corners (80) at the intersection of the inside surface (40) with the sealing surface (40B, 42B), the coating does not extend along the sealing surfaces.

Semiconductor substrate, semiconductor device and manufacturing method thereof

It is an object to provide a method for manufacturing a semiconductor substrate in which contamination of a semiconductor layer due to an impurity is prevented and the bonding strength between a support substrate and the semiconductor layer can be increased. An oxide film containing first halogen is formed on a surface of a semiconductor substrate, and the semiconductor substrate is irradiated with ions of second halogen, whereby a separation layer is formed and the second halogen is contained in a semiconductor substrate. Then, heat treatment is performed in a state in which the semiconductor substrate and the support substrate are superposed with an insulating surface containing hydrogen interposed therebetween, whereby part of the semiconductor substrate is separated along the separation layer, so that a semiconductor layer containing the second halogen is provided over the support substrate.

Toner, method for manufacturing the toner, and process cartridge using the toner

InactiveUS20090017391A1Good combination of low-temperature fixabilityHot offset resistanceElectrographic process apparatusDevelopersUreaChemistry
A toner including a colorant, a polyester (I), and an urea-modified polyester is provided. The urea-modified polyester is a reaction product of an isocyanate-modified polyester with an amine. The isocyanate-modified polyester is obtained by modifying a polyester (II) with an isocyanate. The polyester (II) has specific number average molecular weight (Mn) and hydroxyl value [OHV]. The toner can be manufactured by dispersing or emulsifying a toner constituent liquid including the colorant, the polyester (I), and the isocyanate-modified polyester, in an aqueous medium. The toner can be used for a one-component developing device.

Parylene-coated components for inflatable penile prosthesis

A penile prosthesis beneficially includes components coated with parylene in order to increase product life and reduce wear. In particular, components of the inflatable cylinder benefits from having been coated with parylene. The parylene-coated cylinder components are resistant to wear generated by pinching of the cylinder when the cylinder is in a flaccid state. The parylene-coated cylinder may be formed by masking a tube of silicone (or other appropriate material) and vapor coating the silicone tube with parylene. Further, where a double walled cylinder is used, each of two tubes making up the double wall cylinder can have their surfaces coated with parylene, thus increasing cylinder life and avoiding wear.
