Dimensionally stable, breathable, stretch-thinned, elastic films

A method for producing a stretch-thinned elastic article having dimensional stability over time and at elevated temperatures in which a thermoplastic block copolymer is melt-processed into a stretchable article such as a film or fiber. The article is then conditioned at an elevated temperature greater than or equal to a glass transition temperature (Tg) of a hard phase of the thermoplastic block copolymer. The article is stretch-thinned at the elevated temperature to a desired percentage stretch, forming a stretch-thinned article, after which it is cooled to a temperature below the glass transition temperature of the hard phase of the thermoplastic block copolymer. Films produced by this method are suitable for use in durable and disposable articles including personal care articles such as diapers, incontinence wear, training pants, and feminine care articles, as well as wound dressings, wipes, towels, napkins, and protective apparel.

In a 3D object molding apparatus (10), a tank (18d) holds an uncolored or white resin as a first material for use in interior molding, and tanks (18a to 18c) hold colored resins as second materials for use in surface molding. These resin materials are jetted from injection nozzles (15a to 15d) in the direction of a stage (20). A drive control unit (12) serving as control means moves a nozzle head (15) in the XY plane and controls jets of resin materials from the injection nozzles (15a to 15d). In the interior molding of a 3D molded product (21), at least the first material is jetted, while in the surface molding, at least the second materials are jetted. The injection nozzles (15a to 15c) are coloring nozzles to jet colored resins in molding color portions of the 3D molded product, and the injection nozzle (15d) is a molding nozzle to jet an uncolored molding resin in molding the other portions. The apparatus 10 provided with the coloring nozzles to jet predetermined coloring agents such as colored resins can jet coloring agents from the coloring nozzles in molding the 3D molded product, thereby achieving coloring of the 3D molded product in the molding process. Further, the use of a white resin allows representation of blight colors that are not available only with three colors (Y, M, C), thereby permitting reproduction of the color intensity and gradations in the coloring of the 3D molded product (21) in the molding process.

Method and apparatus for lining a conduit

Method and apparatus for installing a liner material into a host conduit such as, e.g., a sewer pipe, hydrocarbon pipeline, gas line, water line, industrial chemical pipe, or a saltwater line. The liner material may include a compression liner and / or a preliner that is attached to the inner wall of the host conduit to repair or reinforce the host conduit or separate the host conduit from materials transported within the new liner formed from the liner material. Curable resin, slurry, or cement can be placed between the liner material and the host conduit to affix the liner material into place. Before and during curing, a fluid such as air or water can be used to inflate the compression liner outwardly toward the host conduit. Spacers positioned between at least a portion of the liner material and the host conduit may be used to (i) calibrate the thickness of the liner material and curable material that is cured to form the new liner, and (ii) form communication channels adapted to house devices such as wire, cable, fiber optic cable, telephone lines, power lines, etc. The spacers and channels can be selectively inflatable to various sizes to allow calibration of the liner thickness and to form communication channels having a selected width or height. Additionally, the liner material may be formed into a one-piece, tubular lining member having an inflatable enclosure defined between an inner and an outer layer of the lining member. The enclosure can be selectively inflated to (i) calibrate the resulting thickness of the cured liner material, and (ii) form communication channels running along the length of the host conduit.

Apparatus for forming a three-dimensional product

In a 3D product forming apparatus, a nozzle head includes nozzles that respectively jet binders colored in yellow, magenta, cyan, and a nozzle that jets a binder colored in white. A powder layer can be formed on a product forming stage, and the binders are jetted onto the formed powder layer from the nozzle head. At a predetermined region in the powder layer, the powder is bound by the binders. The binders are jetted each time when a powder layer is laminated in forming a plurality of successively laminated powder layers, thereby to form a 3D product on the product forming stage. This allows the product to be colored as well in the product forming process. As a result, 3D products colored in various colors can be created in a short time and at a low cost.

Self-sealing pneumatic tire and preparation thereof

This invention relates to a pneumatic tire with puncture sealing property and a method for preparing such tire. Such tire is prepared by building an uncured butyl rubber-based layer, which contains a peroxide and a dispersion therein of a particulate precured rubber selected from pre resin-cured butyl rubber and / or pre sulfur-cured diene-based elastomer, into an uncured tire and between an innerliner layer and the tire carcass. Upon curing the prepared tire under conditions of elevated temperature, a major portion of the uncured butyl rubber composition is depolymerized to form a tacky material, which contains said dispersion therein of said particulate precured rubber, which has puncture sealant properties. Such layer of depolymerized butyl rubber and dispersed precured rubber particles may be collectively referred to as the sealant layer.

Annular ring and non-pneumatic tire

The present invention provides an annular beam of monolithic construction of one homogeneous material and a related efficient, low-cost non-pneumatic tire. Specific geometric design, combined with nonlinear elastomer physical properties, enable the suppression of all reinforcing belts, continuous fibers, or other strengthening layers in the annular beam. The annular beam consists of at least two bands that are continuous in the circumferential direction and connected by a web geometry. The non-pneumatic tire consists of the annular beam, a ground contacting portion, a central wheel, and a plurality of web spokes that connect the wheel and beam. When the tire is loaded to a design load against a flat surface over a design contact length, a contact area of essentially uniform pressure is produced, while the load is transmitted from the beam to the hub via tension in the web spokes.
