Security in a communication network

Disclosed is a method of establishing a secured peer-to-peer communication between two communications devices, each communications device having stored a respective set of previously established security associations with other communications devices. The method comprises determining whether the two communications devices have a common security association in their respective sets of established security associations; if the devices have determined a common security association, protecting the communications link between the two communications device based on the determined common security association; otherwise establishing a new security association between the two communications devices, and protecting the communications link based on the new security association; and extending the sets of previously established security associations of the two communications devices to the corresponding other exchanging corresponding key data.

Semiconductor light-emitting device and method for manufacturing the same

Semiconductor light emitting device and methods for its manufacture comprises a plurality of textured district defined on the surface of the substrate. The initial inclined layer deposition serves to guide the extended defects to designated gettering centers in the trench region where the defects combine with each other. As a result, the defect density in the upper section of the structure is much reduced. By incorporating a blocking mask in the structure, the free propagation of extended defects into the active layer is further restricted. The present invention is useful in the fabrication of semiconductor light emitting devices in misfit systems.

Ionically-conductive reinforced glass ceramic separators/solid electrolytes

Fiber-reinforced separators / solid electrolytes suitable for use in a cell employing an anode comprising an alkali metal are disclosed. Such fiber-reinforced separators / solid electrolytes may be at least partially amorphous and prepared by compacting, at elevated temperatures, powders of an ion-conducting composition appropriate to the anode alkali metal. The separators / solid electrolytes may employ discrete high aspect ratio fibers and fiber mats or plate-like mineral particles to reinforce the separator solid electrolyte. The reinforcing fibers may be inorganic, such as silica-based glass, or organic, such as a thermoplastic. In the case of thermoplastic fiber-reinforced separators / solid electrolytes, any of a wide range of thermoplastic compositions may be selected provided the glass transition temperature of the polymer reinforcement composition is selected to be higher than the glass transition temperature of the amorphous portion of the separator / solid electrolyte.

Device and Method for Separation of Microparticles in Particular Biohazardous and Hazardous Materials

The invention relates to the separation of microparticles by means of a nozzle (12) for the release of a separating stream (20), comprising at least one enveloping fluid and microparticles entrained Therein, with a vibration generator (18), for the dispersion of the separation flow (20) into a droplet flow (20′), with a deflector device (24), for separation of the droplet flow (20′) into a through flow (20A) and at least one side flow (20B, 20C, . . . ), depending on signals from an analytical device (38). Said analytical device (38) is provided for the analysis of the microparticles(s) contained in the droplets and to control the deflector device (24). Also provided is a protective chamber for product and personnel protection, in which at least the nozzle (12), the oscillation generator (18) and the deflector device (24) are arranged. The analytical device is arranged essentially outside the microbiological safety cabinet (200), whereby, according to the invention, the protective chamber is part of a microbiological safety cabinet (MSW 200), in particular with a laminar throughflow, with a clean chamber (34) and with a monitoring device (22), provided in a side wall, in particular in the back wall (32) of the microbiological safety cabinet (200), through which the signals of the microparticles arising from the separating stream (20) are supplied to the detectors of the analytical device (38), arranged outside the microbiological safety cabinet (200).

Housing

The present invention relates to a housing, such as a transmission housing (103; 203), configured to control vibrations. A transmission housing (103) according to a first embodiment of the present invention has one or more vibration control panels (105) formed in a sidewall of the housing (103). The vibration control panel (105) is inset from a surrounding section of the sidewall (103). A transmission housing (203) according to a second embodiment of the present invention includes an elongate undulation (205) which forms a ridge and a corresponding groove in the transmission housing (203).
