A driving apparatus and method of an LCD device improves the brightness and the contrast ratio of an image. The driving apparatus includes an LCD panel for displaying an image corresponding to a data signal. A data driver supplies the data signal to the LCD panel. A gate driver supplies a scan signal to the LCD panel. A picture quality improving unit generates a histogram by dividing brightness components of input data into levels, generates data with an extended contrast ratio, and then generates a brightness control signal according to the average value of the histogram. A timing controller supplies reordered data, and controls the data driver and the gate driver. A backlight provides light to the LCD panel. An inverter drives the backlight based on the brightness control signal.

The invention discloses a preparation method of a special titanium dioxide for an oily system. The method comprises the following steps: 1, pulping to prepare a titanium dioxide suspension slurry, adding a dispersant, dispersing, and grinding; 2, diluting the ground titanium dioxide suspension slurry, and filtering; 3, adding a zirconium compound, curing, and depositing; 4, adding an aluminum compound, curing, and depositing; 5, adjusting the pH value, and curing; and 6, washing, drying, and carrying out airflow crushing. The method allows the surface of a titanium dioxide particle to be respectively coated with a zirconium oxide film and an alumina film inside out and a silane coupling agent hydrolysate to be adopted to carry out organic treatment, so the special titanium dioxide has the advantages of substantially-increased weather resistance, lipophilicity and luster, low oil absorption, good dispersity, realization of the hiding capability same to import titanium dioxide, high contrast rate, good temperature resistance, and no ink layer yellowing.

Liquid crystal display apparatus

An E-type polarizing layer is provided between a pair of orthogonally oriented O-type polarizing layers, and alternatively, an O-type polarizing layer and an E-type polarizing layer which are oriented orthogonal to each other are provided. When a liquid crystal layer has a slow axis, the E-type polarizing layer is disposed so that an absorption axis thereof is orthogonal to the slow axis. Therefore, a liquid crystal display device having a wide viewing angle is realized in which a contrast ratio is improved by suppressing a light leakage occurring when observed from an oblique direction.
