Closed-loop drug delivery system

A delivery system for a drug or bioactive agent includes an implantable pump and a delivery conduit that may be implanted in an organ or other tissue (e.g., the central or the peripheral nervous system) of a subject. A sensor is also implanted, and a controller unit receives the sensor output and directs drug delivery from within the patient pump accordingly. The sensor directly measures a primary biochemical material or state in the tissue or organ system, and the monitoring unit effects closed loop feedback control of the pump to achieve a desired end. The end may be the regulation of metabolism or maintenance of a stable metabolic or other state, or may be treatment regimen, e.g., by delivery of a dosage level or distribution of a drug in specific brain or nervous an system tissue. The sensed material may be the agent itself, a metabolite, or a related native material, tissue state or condition.

Run-time wait tracing using byte code insertion

Methods, systems, computer program products, and methods of doing business whereby programmatically-generated byte code insertion is used to perform run-time tracing of code that potentially encounters a wait during execution. The byte code insertion is performed at load time, and inserts byte codes before and after a located (potential) wait point. The inserted byte code functions to gather execution statistics, such as a time stamp before invoking a located wait point and a time stamp after invoking the located wait point. Preferred embodiments allow this tracing to be selectively activated / deactivated.

Computer system with transparent data migration between storage volumes

A computer system includes a transparent data migration facility (TDNff) to accomplish automated movement of data (migration) from one location to another in the system. A data migration program includes a main module to control the start of a migration session when said application programs are using data accessed to and from the source volume, to migrate data from the source volume to the target volume, and to end the migration session whereby the application programs are using data accessed to and from the target volume. The data migration program includes a volume module to control the volumes during the migration session. The data migration program includes a copy module to control the copying of data from the source module to the target module during the migration session. The data migration program includes a monitor module for monitoring I/O transfers to the data volumes during the migration sessions. The computer system may have a plurality of operating systems associated with instances of the data migration program which allows for concurrent data migrations. The plurality of instances of the data migration program may also be controlled in a master slave relationship. A migration session may include a plurality of migration phases such as activation, copy, refresh, quiesce, synchronize, redirect, resume and termination phases.

Automatic target recognition and dispensing system

An automated apparatus, method and system for projecting a control agent toward a recognised target for the purposes of agricultural cultivation or environmental management or various other applications; a source of the control agent adapted for use in connection with an environmental control function, an outlet incorporating at least one outlet orifice to direct the control agent emanating from the outlet orifice toward a target. An activation means is movable between an operative mode and an inoperative mode in which the outlet is effectively closed. A targeting mechanism movable on at least one independent control axis provided for selectively orienting the outlet orifice and thereby orienting the control agent in the operative mode. A first sensing system, a classification system, a control system in accordance with a predetermined control logic adapted to deliver doses of the control agent to the identified targets for the purposes of the environmental control function.

Apparatus and method of determining a link status between network stations connected to a telephone line medium

A local area network having a telephone line medium in a home network environment includes physical layer transceivers having transmit and receive state machines enabling each network station to determine a link status on the telephone line medium. The transmit state machine is configured for transmitting a link packet within a prescribed interval (T), less than a minimum packet length of a data packet, and having a preamble and a sufficient number of bytes to allow for transmission. Hence, the link packet will be detected by the other stations on the network, but will not be processed, since it is classified as a runt packet by the media access control layers. The receive state machine monitors the telephone line medium, and if after a prescribed interval (2T) the station has not detected a valid preamble from a data packet or a link packet, then the link status indicator for that station is set to an invalid condition, and subsequently supplied to the station operating system.

Circuit Switched Fallback Mechanism

Circuit Switched Fallback Mechanism There is provided a method and apparatus for handling a Circuit Switched fallback mechanism for a terminal attached to a Packet Switched cell in a radio access network. A request is received at a node in the radio access network to establish a Circuit Switched session with the terminal whilst the terminal has an ongoing Packet Switched session. At the node, a target cell that is capable of handling a Circuit Switched session is selected from a plurality of target cells to which the terminal may attach. A Packet Switched handover is performed to the selected cell, and the Circuit Switched session is also handled in the selected cell.
