54 results about "Demineralization" patented technology

Demineralization - it is the opposite process of mineralization, a process to reduce the content of mineral substances in tissue or organism, such as bone demineralization, of teeth. Demineralization can lead to serious diseases such as osteoporosis or tooth decay.

Crosslinked compositions comprising collagen and demineralized bone matrix, methods of making and methods of use

A composition comprising a collagen protein and demineralized bone matrix is described wherein the composition is chemically cross-linked with a carbodiimide such as N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-N-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC). The crosslinking reaction can be conducted in the presence of N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS). The collagen can be in a porous matrix or scaffolding. The DBM can be in the form of particles dispersed in the collagen. A method of making the composition is also described wherein a collagen slurry is cast into the desired shape, freeze dried to form a porous scaffolding and infitrated with a solution comprising the cross-linking agent. The composition can be used as an implant for tissue (e.g., soft tissue or bone) engineering.

A particulate bone of defined sizes which has a unique property of direct bone osteoinduction without going through endochondral ossification stage is disclosed. The bone is not subjected to chemical extraction or decalcification. This allows for the retention of all physiologically active components of native bone. The invention hinges on the newly discovered ability of bone particles of defined sizes to exert osteoinduction by a pathway superior to and distinct from demineralized bone matrix and similar preparations.

The invention is directed to a process for producing demineralized osteoinductive bone, and demineralized osteoinductive bone produced thereby. The process achieves demineralization of bone by subjecting bone, including for example ground bone, bone cubes, chips, strips, or essentially intact bone, to a rapid continuous acid demineralization process. The process includes subjecting bone to a continuous exchange of demineralizing acid solution where the demineralizing acid solution is recirculated from the substantially closed container through an ion exchange media to remove calcium and phosphate thereby producing a regenerated acid, and returning the regenerated acid to the substantially closed container to produce osteoinductive demineralized bone. The process allows bone to be rapidly demineralized to a precise and specific desired residual calcium level, without sacrificing osteoinductivity.

The invention discloses an experimental method for simulating an oral environment, a material for the environment, and application of the material. The experimental method comprises: preparing a lactic acid solution and treating a demineralization dentin sample. NACP resin comprises 100 parts of resin containing nano amorphous calcium phosphate, 0.2 part of camphorquinone, and 0.8 part of p-N,N-dimethylamino isoamyl benzoate. The cooperation with a PAMAM solution has the effects of buffering the pH value of the lactic acid solution, releasing calcium phosphate particles and promoting remineralization of the demineralization dentin sample. An extreme oral environment where saliva does not exist totally is simulated, thereby facilitating prevention and treatment of dental caries of a patient suffering from decrease of saliva quantity. The experimental method can be clinically applied to prevention and treatment of the dental caries of the patient suffering from the decrease of the saliva quantity, and is simple in operation and high in feasibility.
