Systems and methods for path-based management of virtual servers in storage network environments

Systems and methods for analyzing the service and performance levels associated with virtual machines in a storage network environment for compliance with a resource capacity policy are provided. Component configuration and connectivity information from components in the network environment is collected without using host agents on the virtual machines. Access paths defining end-to-end access relationships between an application on a virtual machine and storage data objects associated with the virtual machine in the network environment are derived. Access paths comprise sequences of components configured to enable information flow between an application residing on a virtual machine and a data object on a respective storage device. Access path resource consumption is computed and virtual machines with resource consumptions that violate the resource capacity policy are identified.

Method and apparatus for policy-based provisioning in a virtualized service delivery environment

InactiveUS20080209016A1Maximization of server utilization policyMinimize timeDigital computer detailsProgram controlVirtualizationVirtual machine
In a distributed computing network having computers interconnected with each other, a method and apparatus of providing policy based provisioning of middleware components to provide a solution for a service. With this invention, the middleware components that are necessary to provide the solution are determined. Then, the configurations of the computers are determined so as to satisfy a selected configuration policy for a selected solution. Finally, the necessary middleware components are installed on the configured computers so that the solution can be provided. Some of the selected configuration policies are: maximization of server utilization policy, provisioning of software components requiring external access based on availability of external resources, and minimization of total time to install said determined components. The progress of installation of the middleware components can also be monitored to make any necessary adjustments in the configuration of the virtual machines so that the selected configuration policy can be satisfied.

High performance motor and magnet assembly therefor

A magnet assembly includes a back iron and an array of magnets. The back iron is in the form of a plate having opposed surfaces. The magnets are arranged along one of the surfaces, with the other surface being dimensioned and configured according to the magnetic field distribution associated with the magnets. The back iron geometry provides for reduced mass, reduced leakage flux, and high flux densities to improve performance of a linear motor that employs such a magnet assembly. Additionally, the back iron can be a magnetically conductive annular ring, such as is employed in a rotary motor. Moreover, the magnets can be arranged in a manner that generates a Halbach array to increase force output in a desired direction while canceling stray magnetic fields in other directions. Similar reduced-mass designs can be employed in conjunction with a back iron of a fixed cross-section and magnets of variable thicknesses, variable lengths, and / or variable widths. In a case where the arrangement is employed in a platen and forcer system, plates on both the platen and forcer may be scalloped to reduce mass.

Sales method for mobile media

The preferred invention is a method of sale of mobile media advertising where a bid system determines which entity gets to advertise at a specific time and location and direction of travel of the mobile media and said advertising is performed within a specific time and location and direction of travel. An example is a truck sign whose message can change dependent on time and or location and or direction of travel and the sale of this service is done by a web based bidding system.

The present invention relates to a training device for golf swings, which overcomes the elastic resistance arising from the coil-spring on a golf swing and accelerates the head speed to strengthen and to accelerate the impact, thus magnifying the centrifugal force. The training device for golf swings according to the present invention includes: a first body section having a rod-shape; a grip section equipped on one side of the above first body section; a rod section which has one end thereof screw joined to the other side of the first body section, a larger outer-diameter than that of the first body section, and an inner space; a second body section wherein a part thereof is inserted into the insertion hole formed in the other side of the above rod section, and a protrusion having a larger outer diameter than that of the above insertion hole is formed in one side of the inserted part; a head section installed in the other side of the above second body section; and an elastic member positioned around the second body to come in contact with both ends at the protrusion and the inner space of the other side of the rod, and thus by the centrifugal force, causing elastic resistance letting the other side of the second body be movable in the inner space of the rod according to the swing speed when the user performs the swing. With this constitution, the present invention enables easy training to increase the flying distance of a golf ball and power as well as strengthening muscles for golf swings.

Fuzzy linear programming method for optimizing charging schedules in unidirectional vehicle-to-grid systems

The fuzzy linear programming method for optimizing charging schedules in unidirectional vehicle-to-grid systems is a computerized fuzzy linear programming method for an electric vehicle (EV) aggregator that coordinates the provision of ancillary services, such as regulation and spinning reserves, to electricity markets using unidirectional vehicle-to-grid (V2G). The fuzzy optimization incorporates uncertainties while maintaining the tractability of the problem size since, in fuzzy optimization, there is no need to represent each stochastic parameter by a number of scenarios. This allows for optimizing the charging of all EVs simultaneously, as well as taking market aspects into account, guaranteeing maximization of aggregator profits, and further considering electricity market uncertainties, such as ancillary service prices and ancillary service deployment signals.

Adaptive feedback arrangment for controlling agent availability service level in a predictive dialer

A feedback control for a predictive dialer employs three feedback loops. A first feedback loop adjusts the dialer's call initiations to compensate for error between the desired, reference, service level and a service level realized by calls that were initiated by the predictive dialer to steer the realized service level to the reference service level. A second loop adjusts the predictive dialer's call initiations for margin between the number of non-nuisance calls (successes) initiated by the predictive dialer over a time and the number of successes that would have been sufficient to produce the reference service level to force the realized service level to converge to the reference service error while ensuring that the oscillations of the realized service level stay above the reference service level. A third loop controls the aggressiveness with which the predictive dialer initiates calls, with a calibration factor that compensates for systematic error in the aggressiveness and possibly attenuates oscillations in the realized service level.
