Speaker arrangement for communication terminal

A communication terminal includes a housing carrying therein a radio antenna element, a speaker, and a chamber that acts as an electromagnetic resonance cavity for the antenna and as an acoustic resonance cavity for the speaker. The speaker is mounted inside the chamber and is coupled to the outside of the housing through a sound channel. The terminal includes a user interface on a front side of the housing and the speaker is placed behind the user interface as viewed from the front side, with the sound channel extending from a channel inlet at the speaker to a channel front outlet at the front side.

Surface mount ring assembly for loudspeaker

A surface mount ring assembly for loudspeakers which comprises a "hard' ring in which the speaker is secured. This hard ring is, in turn, secured to a resilient or "soft' ring which soft ring is secured in the wall opening. The soft ring has a durometer of between 30 to 90 and a dynamic loss modulus of 1010 Dynes / cm2 at 100 to 1000 Hz. This effectively isolates the loudspeaker from the resonant frequency of the structure in which the speaker is secured.

Ceiling loudspeaker system

The present invention comprises a method and apparatus for installing a tile-mounted ceiling speaker that combines the ease of installation of a lay-in speaker system with the visual appearance of a tile-mounted speaker system. In one or more embodiments, the apparatus of the present invention includes a support frame and back box assembly configured for installation on top of a ceiling tile and a loudspeaker cartridge configured to be mounted to the support frame through an appropriately-sized hole in the ceiling tile. In one or more embodiments, the method of the present invention comprises forming an appropriately-sized hole in a ceiling tile, laying an integrated back box and support frame on top of the ceiling tile, connecting wires from an external audio source to terminals provided at the back box, connecting wires provided on the inside of the back box to a loudspeaker cartridge, inserting the loudspeaker cartridge into the hole in the ceiling tile from below, fastening the loudspeaker cartridge to the support frame, and fastening a grille to the loudspeaker cartridge. In one or more embodiments, a variety of interchangeable loudspeaker cartridges having differing loudspeaker configurations are provided. In one or more embodiments, the support frame and back box assembly is configured to allow installation of more than one loudspeaker cartridge. In one or more embodiments, the loudspeaker cartridges are configured for use both with a back box and without back box.

Ceiling loudspeaker system

The present invention comprises a method and apparatus for installing a tile-mounted ceiling speaker that combines the ease of installation of a lay-in speaker system with the visual appearance of a tile-mounted speaker system. In one or more embodiments, the support frame and back box assembly is configured to allow installation of more than one loudspeaker cartridge. In one or more embodiments, the loudspeaker cartridges are configured for use both with a back box and without back box.

Ceiling microphone assembly

An overhead microphone assembly using multiple unidirectional microphone elements. The microphone assembly is installed overhead, generally above all the desired sound sources and below the undesired sound sources. The signals from these multiple microphone elements are fed into a microphone steering processor which can mix and gate the signals to ensure the best signal / noise ratio. The steering processor may also track the sound source dynamically when such tracking (source locating) is desired. The resulting audio signal from the steering processor may be further processed, such as echo canceling, noise reduction and automatic gain control.
