Network security system having a device profiler communicatively coupled to a traffic monitor

A system and method for providing distributed security of a network. Several device profilers are placed at different locations of a network to assess vulnerabilities from different perspectives. The device profiler identifies the hosts on the network, and characteristics such as operating system and applications running on the hosts. The device profiler traverses a vulnerability tree having nodes representative of characteristics of the hosts, each node having an associated set of potential vulnerabilities. Verification rules can verify the potential vulnerabilities. A centralized correlation server, at a centrally accessible location in the network, stores the determined vulnerabilities of the network and associates the determined vulnerabilities with attach signatures. Traffic monitors access the attack signatures and monitor network traffic for attacks against the determined vulnerabilities.

Securing stored content for trusted hosts and safe computing environments

Techniques for protecting content to ensure its use in a trusted environment are disclosed. The stored content is protected against harmful and / or defective host (or hosted) environments. A trusted security component provided for a device can verify the internal integrity of the stored content and the host before it allows the content to come in contact with the host. As a counter part, a trusted security component provided for the host can verify and attest to the integrity of the host and / or specific host computing environment that can be provided for the content stored in the device. The trusted security component provided for a device effectively verify the host integrity based on the information attested to by the trusted security component provided for the host. If the trusted security component trusts the host, it allows the trusted host to provide a trusted host computing environment trusted to be safe for the content stored in the device. A trusted host can effectively provide a safe virtual environment that allows a content representing a copy (or image) of an original computing environment to operate on the host computing system to give a similar appearance as the original computing environment.

Tamper Evident Radio Frequency Identification System And Package

<heading lvl="0">Abstract of Disclosure< / heading> A tamper evident package and system where the package has a radio frequency identification tag affixed to or imprinted onto the covering. An interrogator emits an electromagnetic signal to the identification tag which responds with a predetermined signal if the covering of the package is intact and has not been breached or the identification tag may be powered and emit the predetermined signal intermittently or continuously by itself. An attempt to enter the package disables the identification tag and will cause the identification tag, thereafter interrogated, to fail to send a signal or will send a signal that is different from the predetermined signal. The interrogator recognizes the lack of or the different signal as an indication that the integrity of the package has been breached.
