329 results about "Pedometer" patented technology

A pedometer is a device, usually portable and electronic or electromechanical, that counts each step a person takes by detecting the motion of the person's hands or hips. Because the distance of each person's step varies, an informal calibration, performed by the user, is required if presentation of the distance covered in a unit of length (such as in kilometers or miles) is desired, though there are now pedometers that use electronics and software to automatically determine how a person's step varies. Distance traveled (by walking or any other means) can be measured directly by a GPS receiver.

Pedometer

Power savings are aimed by controlling display of a step count with no additional hardware. An acceleration sensor detects that a user is taking a step through an amplifier circuit, and outputs a walking signal corresponding to the step to a CPU. The CPU counts walking signals, and displays the accumulated number of steps on a display unit. When the CPU determines that the user is taking steps based on the walking signals, the CPU stops drive power from a battery to the display unit, and controls the display unit to stop displaying a step count.

Pedometer navigator system

A pedometer navigator system is carried by a pedestrian, the pedometer system providing present position data as the pedestrian walks across terrain to be surveyed. The body frame is coupled to the pedestrian. An Euler Angle Measuring Subsystem (EAMS) coupled to a body frame measures and outputs the Euler angles of a fixed coordinate system with respect to an earth fixed navigational coordinate system. A left and right sensor is mounted on the pedestrian's respective left and right foot. An SBPMS (short baseline position measuring subsystem) is coupled to the body frame and has a position measuring coordinate system. The SBPMS measures and provides a respective left vector {right arrow over (rho)}leftp and a right vector {right arrow over (rho)}rightp characterizing the position of the left and right sensors with respect to the position measuring coordinate system origin. A computer and algorithm means responds to the Euler angles of the body frame coordinate system with respect to the earth fixed navigational coordinate system and the left vector and the right vector by determining an interval during which the left or right foot is stationary and for providing a transition vector referenced to the earth fixed navigational coordinate system characterizing the movement of the SBPMS origin during the interval the respective foot is stationary. A navigation algorithm adds each transition vector to the previous present position of the navigation reference system to obtain a next present position of the position measuring subsystem.

Mobile device sensor data subscribing and sharing

Techniques for mobile devices to subscribe and share raw sensor data are provided. The raw sensor data associated with sensors (e.g., accelerometers, gyroscopes, compasses, pedometers, pressure sensors, audio sensors, light sensors, barometers) of a mobile device can be used to determine the movement or activity of a user. By sharing the raw or compressed sensor data with other computing devices, the other computing devices can determine a motion state based on the sensor data. Additionally, in some instances, the other computing devices can determine a functional state based on the sensor data and the motion state. For example, functional state classification can be associated with each motion state (e.g., driving, walking) by further describing each motion state (e.g., walking on rough terrain, driving while texting).

Electronic pedometer

To carry out step number measurement more precisely even when a walk signal enough to be detected is not obtained. After a fixed noise of a signal detected by an acceleration detecting portion having an acceleration sensor is removed by a filter portion of a counting portion, a walk cycle comparing portion compares a cycle of the resultant signal with a moving average value calculated by a walk cycle calculating portion, and each signal within a predetermined cycle range is counted as the number of steps for one step by a step number counting portion. A signal within a range similar to a cycle n times as large as a predetermined cycle of the signals each beyond the predetermined cycle range is judged as the number of steps for n steps by an extra-regulation step number processing portion and is counted as the number of steps for n steps by the step number counting portion. Data on the number of steps obtained through the counting in the step number counting portion is displayed on a display portion.

Pedometer

It is made possible to reduce electric power consumption while suppressing an occurrence of a walking detection leak. By a cycle operation section and a cycle comparison section in a CPU, if it is judged that a walking signal from a detection circuit is within a predetermined cycle, the walking signal is counted as a step number by a step number count section. In a case where the walking signal within the predetermined cycle is not detected for a predetermined time by the cycle comparison section, a walking stop detection section judges to be a walking stop, an electric source control processing section controls an electric source control circuit to thereby switch the detection circuit to an intermittent drive from a continuous drive, and thereafter gradually prolongs a pause time of the intermittent drive for a predetermined time at a time in every time the walking signal within the predetermined cycle is not detected for the predetermined time.

Hearing aid, hearing aid system, walking detection method, and hearing aid method

ActiveUS8391524B2Easily detect walking stateMicrophonesSets with desired directivityPedometerEngineering
A hearing aid that analyzes a surrounding acoustic environment and automatically switches between a plurality of hearing aid processing reduces noise by limiting directionality, when the user is in a noisy outdoor location. However, in the case where directionality is limited to the front when the user is walking or the like, the user is put in extreme danger because he / she cannot notice sound of danger approaching from behind. Behavior analysis of identifying a walking state of the user is necessary in addition to environmental analysis, but typical walking detection using a sensor as in the case of a pedometer and the like is not applicable to a device worn at an ear such as a hearing aid. On the basis of an occurrence pattern of wind noise when walking, the walking state of the user is identified in the case where pulse-like wind noise occurs repeatedly. This enables walking detection to be performed using an existing structure, with there being no need to provide a sensor or the like. Hence, it is possible to provide a hearing aid that can be safely used even outdoors.
