Ultrasonically cleaned membrane filtration system

A filtration system and a method of cleaning a particle and / or colloidal fouled filtration membrane are provided. The filtration system includes at least one filtration membrane disposed in a casing, and at least one ultrasonic transducer in direct contact with a fluid to be filtered. Ultrasonic energy is emitted by the ultrasonic transducer in the direction of the filtration membrane. Dislodged particles cleaned by the ultrasonic energy from the filtration membrane are carried away in a cross-flow stream and wasted or recycled back to the beginning of the treatment process. The ultrasonic transducer can be fixed or movable. The filtration system can use different filtration membrane configurations such as, but not limited to, tubular, flat sheet, hollow fiber and spiral wound membranes.

Porous film of vinylidene fluoride resin and method for producing same

A porous membrane of vinylidene fluoride resin excellent in hydrophilicity and having a good balance among strength, elongation and water permeation rate, which is thus useful as a microfiltration membrane or a separator of battery. The porous membrane is formed from a copolymer of 100 mols of a vinylidene fluoride monomer and 0.01-10.0 mols of a hydrophilic monomer having at least one species of hydrophilic group selected from epoxy group, hydroxy group, carboxy group, ester group, amide group and acid anhydride group.

Membrane permeable to aromatic products

A multilayer structure with improved permeation for atmospheric diffusion of aromatic products wherein the structure comprises: a permeable membrane wherein said permeable membrane comprises at least two polymeric layers wherein the polymer of each layer is independently selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, very low density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, ethylene methylacrylate copolymer; a release layer wherein said release layer comprises a nylon polymer or a ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer wherein the release layer is adhered to most inner polymeric layer of the permeable member which comprises the permeable membrane and wherein the adhesion between release layer and the adjacent layer of the polymeric permeable membrane is a relatively weak bond compared to the bond between the layers of the polymeric permeable membrane; and an impermeable membrane wherein said impermeable membrane comprises one or more layers wherein the materials which comprise the individual layers of the impermeable membrane are independently selected from metal or foil and wherein said impermeable portion is laminated to said release layer.

Process for Producing Resin-Coated Pigment, Resin-Coated Pigment, Aqueous Pigment Dispersion and Aqueous Colorant Composition Containing the Same

A process for producing a resin-coated pigment capable of providing an ink and a paint being superior in dispersion stability of a pigment and having rapid drying property, high gloss and density without containing those such as an organic solvent and a salt that cause the lowering of performance of pigment dispersion, characterized in that a pigment is dispersed in an aqueous solution in which an anionic group-containing resin is dissolved in the presence of a basic compound and then, the anionic group-containing resin is precipitated on the surface of the pigment by removing the basic compound in the aqueous solution, using an ion exchange means.

There are disclosed a method for separating a liquid mixture in which a permeation performance enhances, and a composition of the liquid mixture containing a hydrocarbon liquid and an alcohol liquid at supply and a composition after membrane permeation are changed by a separating operation, and a device for separating a liquid mixture. The liquid mixture containing the hydrocarbon liquid and the alcohol liquid is used as a supply mixture liquid, and at least part of the supply mixture liquid is, in a liquid state, brought into contact with a membrane supply side of a separation membrane, and discharged in a vapor state through a membrane permeation side of the separation membrane, whereby a composition of a mixture vapor which is balanced with the supply mixture liquid becomes different from a composition of a vapor on the membrane permeation side.
